Coastal Roots Farm is closely monitoring the news related to the spread of COVID-19, including the statewide stay-at-home order which went in to effect Thursday. The order states, “Everyone is to stay home except to get food, care for a relative or friend, get necessary health care, or go to an essential (critical) job. If you go out, keep at least 6 feet of distance.” Coastal Roots Farm falls within Food and Agriculture, one of the Critical Sectors providing vital services.
Although Coastal Roots Farm events have been cancelled or postponed through at least April 30, we are 100% committed to continuing with our Food Distribution Program to get food into the hands of vulnerable members of our community through our:
Free food distributions to Vista Community Clinic and Camp Pendleton
Free food donations to St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Mercy Housing, and Community Resource Center
Free food deliveries to local Holocaust survivors
Our Food Distribution Program reaches an average of 2,500 people per month, but we have already seen a much higher demand during this pandemic. During last Thursday and Sunday's Farm Stand hours, double the amount of customers came in search of fresh, organic, nutrient-dense produce and eggs. We are taking all the proper safety precautions for our team and guests, and and our entire team is supporting the production and distribution in order to meet demands.
We are so proud to be able to continue to Nourish Community during this critical time, during which vulnerable community members are particularly impacted. We are so grateful to our many supporters and volunteers for their unwavering support. We hope you will consider making a donation to support Coastal Roots Farm's commitment to Nourish Community.
