Weekly Update

Dear <<First Name>>,

This week has seen some unprecedented changes to our nation as we adjust to a new way of living.  For those of us with young people we have had to adapt to home schooling and trying to ensure some sense of normality remains.  But as well as schools, many other things we take for granted such as shops, cafes, pubs and entertainment venues have closed down and left many people facing an uncertain future, devoid of hope.  Yet our hope is found in Jesus, who is the hope of the nations.  May we not loose sight of Him, the rock that we cling to in the midst of the storm.

On Sunday we attempted our first livestream via YouTube.  At one point there were at least 17 consecutive connections and between the broadcast and now there have been over 60 views.  Despite the initial glitch with the sound everything seemed to work smoothly and people were using the chat option and text messaging too.  Thank you for your encouraging comments and for supporting this way of gathering.  Later on Sunday afternoon a number of us used Zoom to gather virtually and to share our stories and experiences with one another.  It was really encouraging to see us grappling with technology to connect in this way.  No doubt, like me, you've also had some great conversations with people over the good old telephone.

This week we once again hope to Livestream on Sunday morning at 10:30am and before that the aim is to have a time of prayer over Zoom at 10:00am.  Please use the buttons below to connect to each of these.

With every blessing,

Zoom Prayer Gathering - 29th March @ 10:00am
Sunday Worship Livestream - 29th March @ 10:30am

Alastair & Kathryn would like to know if you've got a favourite hymn or chorus.  If so, then why not let them know and they'll try to record it for you and upload it to the church YouTube page.  They will be here for ongoing encouragement as well as for the Livestreams on Sundays.
Baptists together are hosting live online prayer gatherings every Sunday and Wednesday starting at 7pm.  Each broadcast lasts about 20 minutes and is a good opportunity to join in prayer with many others around the country.  If you are unable to watch live then the videos are posted to the Baptists Together website.

Church Prayer Points
  • Barbara Cross gives thanks for everyone who has been in touch with her following the death of John.  She has really valued the support.
  • Caroline Poole has asked for prayer for her niece who has breast cancer and will be undergoing a double mastectomy on 27th March.  Please pray for a successful operation and swift recovery.
  • Barbara Cross has asked for prayer for her nephew and his wife, Paul and Deborah.  Paul is needing to undergo an operation to remove his gall bladder.  Again, please pray for a successful operation and swift recovery.
If you have a prayer request, please let Dan know for this email list and Mary know for the telephone chain.
In these challenging times this picture provides food for thought.
Why not take time to reflect on how you can be church to those around you.
Remember that the clocks change on Saturday night and go forward 1 hour.
Because of the urgency involved in getting in touch with as many people as possible, I have sent this email to everyone I have an email address for who is connected to our church.  I am aware that for some this will be a lifeline while for others it may well be unwelcome or irrelevant.  If you do not wish to continue receiving emails from us, please feel free to unsubscribe using the option at the bottom of this email.
