It has been an incredible League Year so far!
I had the personal privilege of attending the ODI Orlando conference last month and
WOW, what an experience!
You can see more from my adventures on our
Instagram Highlight Story. Simply look for circle labeled ODIOrlando.
I will be sharing a presentation of key conference takeaways at a future GMM.
If you are a Sustaining Member, please feel free to join us for this GMM!
Our New Member class continues to amaze, with their New Member Project well underway!
These women have taken on the ambitious task of redesigning and organizing the Mariposa Center Library & Homework Room at Girls, Inc.
This project will create a more inviting, functional space for the 35 young girls currently involved with the center.
Our new members could use your support in this project.
Dates for clean up, painting, and organizing TBA as soon as possible.
In the meantime, please see below for the various ways you can contribute:
If you have gently used furniture items, books appropriate for girls ages 5-12, or have other general questions about this project, please reach out to us at

Lastly, we continue to conduct rolling admissions and there is still time for interested members to join us!
As always, keep an eye on your email and our

Communications Update:
Thank you to everyone who promoted our first ever Purse Bingo and solicited donations! Because of everyone's efforts we had a hugely successful event and sold out! Connecting with local businesses and our community partners made this event even better than we anticipated and will allow us to build new relationships in the community!
The 2020-2021 Scholarship Application is active on the JLGS website and has been provided to guidance counselors at all of the local high schools. With schools being closed, please share the posts about the scholarship and the application on your social media and with any high school teachers you may know! We want to get the word out to as many people as possible! The application is available on our website at
http://www.jlgs.org/scholarship.html.
While we practice social distancing, please keep an eye on our Instagram and Facebook page for updates and opportunities to stay connected during this time. We will have updates on events and opportunities to volunteer. If you have any events or news that need to be shared to the group, please let me know! Email me at jmcardleesq@gmail.com
Thanks!

Finance Update:
Thank you to everyone who made our Designer Purse Bingo a success! We raised an amazing, $7,400! This has been one of our most successful events and its all thanks to our members, friends, family and local businesses that supported with raffle prizes. With our fundraisers to date, we have reached our goal of $4,000 for our scholarship fund and the rest will go back into the community.
Thank you!
Tracy
VP of Finance
Community Update:
As we head into spring, the Community Council is focused on our scholarship, partner events, and enhancing our Little Red Bookshelf Project. Given the current environment we have had to pivot some of our initially planned events, however we are working our best to try and help the community during this significant time of need. Beginning with our scholarship, we have enhanced our application process this year by bringing our scholarship online for the first time ever! Our application is currently live and we are actively working to ensure students are aware of our application process despite school cancellations. We will review our applications in the spring per usual and will be working to select our recipient in the coming months.
Unfortunately due to recent COVID-19 circumstances our April book drive is postponed until further notice. The council is actively working on a revised plan to continue the flow of books to the league despite this- and of course we will always accept donations! If you have any donations please reach out to
jlgsreads@gmail.com and we will coordinate a pick-up. During this unprecedented time we are also evaluating some new opportunities to help our local community and will be sending updates on various response efforts as they are developed. We are looking forward to a busy, and hopefully healthy spring with the league!
Thanks!
