THIS WEEKS UPDATE - 24th March 2020
There are lots of changes to the market this week as prices continue to rise every day. This is a result of the recent influx of consumer demand, in addition to the shortage of farm workers. Given the current world events, it is likely that this pattern will continue for some time.
Vegetables:
This week we have continued to see a rise in staples such as Beans, Broccoli, Cauliflower and Capsicum varieties. Cucumbers (especially Lebanese) and Celery are exorbitant this week, as are Ginger and Garlic which have increased in price by nearly 100%. All Potato varieties (including Kumera) have also significantly increased in price this week, with some Large and XL varieties unavailable. Chinese Vegetables have finally started to drop back in price this week. We have especially seen a reduction in the cost of Bok Choy and Choy Sum.
Fruits:
At this stage, Bananas remain steadily high. Pink Lady Apples and Oranges have significantly increased in price. Grapes and Paw Paw have reduced in price this week.
Kindly Note:-
-Cherries and Apricots are not available in the market anymore.
-Mangoes are also coming to their season end and will be finishing soon.
-Mandarins are not available at this moment but we are expecting them to return to the market in April.
