HTW will be CLOSED for therapy due to the Covid-19 Pandemic!

HTW will temporarily CLOSE
due to this COVID-19 pandemic!

Dear Parents,

We have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation, but it continues to change rapidly. As always, the health and safety of your children is of utmost importance to us. Therefore, we have decided to TEMPORARILY CLOSE  our center and therapy sessions until further notice.

We realize the impact that our closure can have on your child, family, and our employees and this is not a decision we made lightly. We are following the CDC and BACB recommendations when it comes to service discontinuation. That is why our amazing supervisors and team have been diligently working on creating homework packets for your families until we can re-open for sessions.

Thankfully, some insurances have approved telehealth for video conferencing and parent training during this difficult time. All we need to do is request an authorization and hope that they approve them. Once approved, we will coordinate with each of you and will close
ly monitor and assist you through scheduled video conferences so that we can ensure that our high-quality services continue to be delivered. We will also coordinate group sessions on different topics, given that our group parent training that was scheduled to take place in April is cancelled. Please be on the lookout for an e-mail with additional information in the days to follow.

There is no question this is a time of great uncertainty for the entire country. But we must remain calm and follow all state laws and public health recommendations. We thank you in advance for your understanding during this difficult time. Let’s work as a team to keep our children and staff healthy and safe! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Claudia Mármol, M.A., BCBA
Director of Heal the World Behavioral Services, LLC.

Remember to
follow a schedule

During this time of uncertainty for everyone, but especially our children, it is very important to have a schedule in mind and follow through with it to the best of our abilities. Here we have compiled 6 reasons why they are so important:

1. Visual Schedules promote independence just like agendas guide adults on their daily routine.

2. They are rule-based and will assist your child in learning to follow adult directives.

3. They provide a permanent visual reminder. And who doesn't love visuals that allow us to understand information faster and easier.

4. They relieve anxiety. Imagine if I took your agenda away from you. Would you know when your dentist appointment would be? Knowing what's first, next, and last is crucial to plan ahead.

5. They assist with transitions. They give the child information about what is going to happen and what is expected. This way, they can plan for the upcoming activity without it being a surprise.

6. They are evidence based. They have been used for numerous routines and proven to be successful as an aid for task completion.

Visual schedules can be used for ANYTHING, just ask our analysts and we will help you :)
Let's take ALL
necessary precautions!

As Floridians, preparing to stay home due to COVID-19 precautions is very similar to staying in due to inclement weather, so we have prepared this list for you to have handy during this time of uncertainty.

We recommend that you stock up on the following:
  • Vitamins or supplements
  • Prescription medications
  • At least 7-days supply of non-perishable food
  • At least 7-days supply of water and/or preferred beverage
  • Batteries
  • DVD player with favorite DVD's
  • Comfort toy or blanket
  • Preferred toys and activities
  • Drawing paper and writing utensils
  • Materials for arts and crafts
We recommend that you follow these safety recommendations:
  • Wash your hands with soap and water often, for at least 20 seconds every time, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Do not touch your face unless you recently washed your hands.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing. Do not use your hands.
  • Do not shake hands. Instead, wave or elbow bump.
  • Avoid unnecessary gatherings and events.
