"Flowers have a long-term positive effect on moods.  Study participants reported feeling less depressed, anxious, and agitated after receiving flowers. They also demonstrated greater sense of life satisfaction"

The corona virus has affected our way of life in ways many of us have never seen. Isolation, distancing, loneliness, financial strain, and for some, the fear and stress of the situation are taking a toll.

There are so many ways to help each other during this time.

Please support our small businesses. Many businesses have been forced to shut down completely, change the way they do business, are seeing shortages of needed supplies, etc.

A lot of small businesses are offering curbside pickup or delivery. Or consider contacting your favorite local businesses to purchased gift cards and pass them out to people who need help or a pick me up.

Pick up takeout meals for elderly or homebound friends, neighbors or family. Maybe add a bouquet of flowers, special candles, and/or a card to make the dinner extra special.

Stay in touch with the people who may need help. A lot of us aren’t good at asking for help, so start the conversation by saying something like “I have to run out for groceries today, is there anything I can pick up for you while I’m out?”

Donate to charities working around the clock getting food and services to people. Many grocery stores act as convenient drop off locations. Please share the toilet paper and other paper products too!

Keep upbeat and positive around others – moods are contagious too!

Be kind and share!

Please be sure to take care of yourselves also!

Floral professionals are especially struggling during this time. Events and gatherings are being postponed or canceled altogether. Like other businesses, the bills must still be paid.

Flowers have such a positive impact on people’s emotional state. Please consider taking flower bouquets or arrangements to individuals or nursing homes you know could use some cheer, or consider purchasing gift cards now for future events.

Here is a list of floral designers we work with- or support your own favorite florists.

We have had cancellations for most of our May and early June weddings and events. This was sadly to be expected, and my heart goes out to everyone who has had to cancel or postpone their special day. We are returning deposits for any events canceled due to COVID-19 .

Otherwise, here on the farm, not much has changed - yet. We're pretty isolated during the winter and early spring months, and work continues as the weather permits. We’re blessed in many ways and hope you’re all feeling blessed during these difficult times also.

Kind Regards,
Michigan Flower Farm
