What's coming up THIS WEEK @ FUMC Bellevue
Here's what's happening in the
Bellevue First United Methodist Church Community

Right now, in the midst of so much confusion and change:
  • we need to stay in touch.
  • we need the comfort of our pastor's words.
  • we need things to look forward to.
  •  we have time to learn something new.
  •  we need a little structure.
  •  we need to engage our minds in some deep thinking.
  • we need something we can count on!
Read on to find out what we're doing to help you out!
Online Worship and Spiritual Practices
  • Sermons:  Phil is continuing to record Sunday morning messages that are available on our web page. Sermons from past weeks are available there as well if you scroll down the page.
  • For Good Friday and Easter, we are planning to post special services on our web page.  Practice for that by clicking on the link above and enjoying the message this Sunday, and ensure that you are all set for Easter, too!
  • Sermon Discussion:  Brent Allen has organized an online Sunday Sermon discussion group at 10:30 am. Please click here and we'll help you get set up for that.
  • The Lenten poetry devotional is available on the church's website here, along with the main poems by Wendell Berry that are used in the devotional.
Online Events
  • The Oasis is every Monday from 5:30 - 7 pm for a while. This coming Monday, March 30th,  we'll be talking about what happens after we die from a variety of perspectives.  If you are interested in sharing your thoughts, please click here so you get the meeting link and a short reading to do before the discussion.
  • Laurie's Office Hours:  Every Thursday, 10 am to 12 noon
Laurie is hoping that everyone will get comfortable with online video meetings, conversations, discussions, and other events during the pandemic so we can all keep in touch face to face.  To find out how to drop in for a chat during office hours any given week, just email Laurie or click
here and she'll let you know what you need to do.  Promise, it'll be easy! Stop by and say hi!
We haven't stopped helping out!
  • Sack lunches for homeless youth are being delivered every Sunday by a Subway restaurant in Redmond.  The youth get a sandwich, chips, and applesauce, the restaurant gets to pay their employees, and we get to fulfill our promise to Friends of Youth.  These lunches cost about $80 more a week than when we made them, so if you'd like to donate please see further information, below.
  • Crossroads Dinner was provided this last week due to the enthusiasm and hard work of Patty C., and her friends and family.  Not sure what will happen next month, but if we can figure out a way to meet their needs, we will do it!
FUMCB Staff and Building

Our Staff is all working from home, communicating via email and video chat meetings, and adjusting to changes in their work requirements.  They are all accessible via phone or email so do not hesitate to get in touch if you need something or just want to check-in!

The building is closed and no one is using the building.
  • Steve P visits regularly to ensure that all is well.
  • We have changed the code on the security system.
  • Mail for the church is being picked up every few days so we can pay bills and cash checks.
Cash flow is a bit slow for the church right now as everyone adjusts, and there is no tenant income.  If you would like to donate to support our ministry and missions,  please consider one of the following:
  1. Mail us a check.  We'll get it!  When you run out of stamps, you might consider one of the following ways to donate.
  2. Use our web page to make an online deposit. Check here for a video Laurie made to show you how to do that if you are unsure.
  3. Use your bank's bill pay system to set up payments to the church.  If you already pay bills online, this is the same thing!  Use the Note or Detail section to indicate to what fund you would like the money to be given.  If you aren't using online bill pay, now may be the time to set that up!  Every bank has a video on YouTube to help you do just that.
Caring for Others

PLEASE check in with neighbors, friends, and members of your Care Circle to be sure that everyone is doing okay. Check-in once a week on those who are most at risk from the virus, but also from loneliness.  Spread the word if someone needs help!

If you would like an updated Care Circle list, please click
here and we will email one to you.
Upcoming Events
The building is closed until at least April 24th.  Stay tuned to this newsletter weekly for online opportunities.
