Dear Festival and Events Friends,
As we all confront the daily fallout from the effects of the global pandemic COVID-19, we at Bird Watcher’s Digest want you to know that we support you during this unprecedented period. Many special events are scheduled to coincide with spring migration, and many of these events, unfortunately, have been postponed or canceled due to social distancing and restrictions on large gatherings. This is disconcerting on many levels, especially that we will miss out on the personal connection and vital financial support that we all depend upon to enable us and future generations to continue doing what we all love—birding.
That’s why we are offering BWD’s Festival Finder to help you. It is already positioned as a popular community bulletin board of sorts for birding festivals. We are encouraging all birding festival organizers to post updates and any other pertinent communication during this confusing time. Maintaining a connection between your followers and ours is an effective way to alert birders to your festival: whether it is happening as scheduled, or not.
In an effort to help make this an effective tool, would you please take a moment to do the following as soon as possible:
Visit the BWD Festival Finder to verify that your event information is accurate. If it is not, please visit Update Your Birding Festival and correct it for the current situation. We plan to publish a blog post on Wednesday, March 25, to direct our followers to this page.
If your event has a fundraising element to it, we encourage you to provide that information on the Update Your Birding Festival form, in the “Festival Description” section. If your event has been canceled or postponed, we encourage you to ask prospective attendees to consider a donation in a show of solidarity and support.
