Hi <<First Name>>,

It's a strange and unsettling time in which we're all feeling isolated. That's why we've compiled a special-edition newsletter to help you stay connected to the city and its people.

We know many of you may no longer be in Groningen, or you may still be in the city but feel cut off socially. Regardless of where you are, you are still a Groninger. You are part of a community that is now more far-reaching than ever.

With that in mind, here are just a few of the amazing things that people in Groningen, the Netherlands, and beyond are doing during this time to help one another and stay in touch.

We are also sharing #stayathome activity tips Monday through Friday on our Instagram, and we will be sharing updates on upcoming virtual events there, too!

Stay connected to your loved ones!

You might already have heard of Omapost, one of Groningen's best-loved apps. Omapost allows you to send photo cards to loved ones right from your phone!

Even better? They have also just launched their international version, so you can also send cards abroad.

We've been using it a lot since the Corona crisis kicked in to connect with our grandparents in isolation all over the world.

Fill in the code c1tyc3ntral,  and you'll get your first card for free!

Take good care of yourself

If you are feeling overwhelmed, the International Welcome Centre North (IWCN) has opened an online chat to listen to your concerns and answer your questions about the virus and what it may mean for you.

We can also suggest these articles below to help you understand and process what's going on.

You can follow local news on the Corona crisis in English via The Northern Times.

We are also sharing our tips on how to manage the Corona crisis through our social channels - follow us there for ongoing ideas.

Want to lend a hand to those in need? The following articles and initiatives are a great place to get started:

"Just people helping other people"
This (Dutch) website connects people looking for help with certain tasks (grocery shopping, dog-walking, etc.) with people in their neighborhood. It was started by a group of students in Delft and has taken off like wild fire!

From putting posters in windows to offer assistance to protecting cashiers at Albert Heijn, there are loads of ways Noord-Nederlanders are innovating during this time.

#Appjedrop

SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES

It's a tough time for many local businesses.
You can support them - and they can support you - in the following ways:
Eemstuin veggie boxes or De Voedseldoos
Two different services offering fresh and local produce delivered right to your door!
Godert Walter bookstore
Large selection of Dutch and English books delivered via fietscourier for just €1.50.

Koffiestation

De Koffer
Friday night drinks with friends and cold beer is still a possibility ... you just need Zoom and De Koffer.  Local craft beer can be biked right over to you, often within half an hour!
... is moving online! We had such cool stuff lined up for you offline ...  But we have cool stuff planned online! From next week we'll be doing Instagram takeovers, getting #LekkerKletsen going online, and starting up some new creative activities.  Follow us on our social channels for details.

For now, wishing you a safe, peaceful, reflective time at home. And, now more than ever... let's stay connected!
