We have received the following email from SPAA detailing the preliminary results to their survey and their
response to an article in yesterday's SMH;
"Just to update you, below please find links to 2 media releases issued by SPA over the last few days. As you’ll see, our focus at the moment is gathering as many responses as we can to our industry survey charting the impact of COVID19. We are getting a strong response, and we are building a fairly comprehensive picture of what is a pretty grim situation.
We also responded to an article in yesterday’s Sydney Morning Herald which addressed possible Government assistance for free-to-air broadcasters. One of the things the article spoke about was the prospect of temporary cuts to Australian content obligations. SPA came out against any cuts, and as you’ll see in our release, spoke instead about temporary averaging flexibility, so that current obligations could be deferred (and then demand would return at a later date).
