WE'RE IN THIS TOGETHER

No doubt, we have all grown a few extra grey hairs in these last few weeks. One thing is for sure - the restrictions will eventually be eased and more of us will be able to reopen their businesses.

We encourage you to continue supporting local where you can and make the pledge to support local through this time and beyond. #WePledgeLocal

Soon we will be able to enjoy our stunning beaches again and share them with our regular visitors. We cannot wait to welcome new visitors who may be seeking destinations with secluded beaches that make it easy to maintain social distancing.

As many of our members would have seen, Bowen Tourism and Business are extending all current memberships to the end of the calendar year to help ease the financial burden. We have also eased the financial impact on our advertisers whilst still working hard to promote the destination.

Underwater Sculptures

Most locals would be aware that Horseshoe Bay has been home to the Underwater Sculpture "Bywa" for a few months now. Did you know that this is not the only underwater sculpture installed in the Whitsundays? Have you also been wondering how to find out more information about the sculptures?

Even if you're isolating, and not driving your vehicle often, it is important to keep it serviced - even without kilometres being put on a vehicle, its engine components can experience wear and / or expiry through age.

At Filby's Motors, we recommend logbook servicing, but we understand a lot of people might be under financial strain - so we've created a thorough basic service, at a heavily discounted price.

Passenger vehicles $199 inc gst

Contact Filby's Motors to book your covid19 basic service today - to ensure you can rely on your vehicle when you do need it. This offer is available to all makes and models.

The Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday Regional Councils and GW3 are working with data specialists REMPLAN to measure the impacts on business from COVID-19.

This data will provide our region with vital, up-to-date evidence to work with other government agencies in developing a response for the crisis and planning for recovery.  The survey is brief and will take less than 10 minutes to complete and will be repeated on a regular basis throughout the crisis to keep data current.  You can access the survey here

The Australian Government is implementing widespread economic stimulus measures to protect jobs and support households through the coronavirus pandemic.
These measures include:
  • A JobKeeper Payment of $1,500 per employee, per fortnight. This is paid to employers to keep people in jobs.
  • Boosting the JobSeeker payment for those who lose their jobs.
  • Support for households, including $750 payments for approximately 6.6 million Australians, around half of whom are pensioners.
  • A reduction in the deeming rate. This change will benefit about 900,000 income support recipients, including about 565,000 Age Pensioners.
  • Free childcare to help families continue working and ensure people can stay in work.

This unprecedented level of financial support will save millions of jobs and keep families together, businesses in business and preserve the productive capacity of the Australian economy.

Combined with the Government’s previous actions, this totals $320 billion or 16.4% of GDP in economic support to Australian businesses, households and individuals affected by the Coronavirus and puts Australia in the best possible position to bounce back stronger than ever.
We should take comfort in this investment in our nation’s future.
Fact sheets on key elements of the economic stimulus package can be found through the following links, or click the button below to view all economic support information:
