Tips for Facilitating Online Peer
Support Groups

Are you new to offering or attending peer support groups online?
Do you have experiences to share?
Check out our new resource: Tips for Facilitating Online Groups.

We are developing this together -- people who are experienced in offering online support groups and those who attend groups. We invite you to share your experiences --- both from facilitating and attending online groups. What makes a group good? And what role does a facilitator play?

Do you have a meeting or group that has been moved to an online format? Are you offering an online support group? Be sure to let us know so we can add it to the Virtual Community Calendar

Special Announcements

New APS Team Member

In the past week we were excited to welcome the newest member of our Instructional Design team, Athena Anderson! She is new to the region and landed about the same time as everyone started practicing social distancing, so she's looking forward to a time when she can meet people in person and go to the library and coffee shop again. In addition to her skills in instructional design, she is a Certified Feline Training & Behavior Specialist. She is always happy to help cats to help cats who would otherwise be abandoned to be able to stay in their homes.

New Certification Board Director Announced

The Academy team extends a warm welcome to Marshall Rosier, who recently accepted a position at the Mental Health Empowerment Project (MHEP) as the Director of the New York Peer Specialist Certification Board.

APS and the NYPSCB are separate organizations, but we work collaboratively to ensure the quality of the certification process.
