American Locator magazine takes an unbiased, hard look into the challenges facing our industry. We recognize that excavators must be at the forefront for damage prevention.
The Roundtable 2019, saw over 140 top professionals from over 60 companies come together to share their insights and vision for effective damage prevention going forward. We share photos and transcripts on The Perception, The Reality, The Crystal Ball and The Journey - discussions on present and future challenges for damage prevention.
The Roundtable Position Paper
A follow-up meeting with attendees from the event determined that this year’s Position Paper would feature two pilot programs aimed at reducing late responses to dig requests. The Position Paper was presented to all other attendees of The Roundtable for input.
To address these pressing concerns facing the underground damage prevention community and encourage improvement and innovation, participants of The Roundtable have created two workable pilot programs involving the participation of willing professional excavators and supported by local utilities and one-call centers. These pilot programs may work outside of existing state law, and as such would need the cooperation of the agency that enforces the state law. Interest and support for these programs from most applicable parties has already been received, and any progress will be reported on in our next paper.
