Here's an update on Peaceful Paths and how you can lend support during the Coronavirus Pandemic!

A Note from our Executive Director, Dr. Theresa Beachy:

Domestic Violence remains a critical issue in our community and throughout the nation.  In times of crisis, such as the current pandemic, Centers such as Peaceful Paths anticipate that we will see a sharp spike in victim services in the weeks following the emergency.  This is a fact research and personal experience shows us repeatedly.  Hurricanes in Florida always precipitate an increase in the number of helpline calls, injunction requests, and client requests for services including basic supplies, counseling, and housing referrals.  We expect that the COVID-19 situation will produce similar needs among the survivors we serve, and bring in new victims who have experienced an escalation of violence exacerbated by the current stress.  Understand that these crises do not cause domestic violence.  Abuse is a choice behavior driven by power and control.  But the choices abusers make are often magnified in times of stress, and result in higher rates of intervention services being utilized. We hope that you will consider supporting us as essential safety, support, and planning for self-sufficiency are provided by Peaceful Paths to residents of Alachua, Bradford, and Union Counties in the coming weeks and months.

We also wish the best to you and your loved ones during this crisis and know that if we band together as a community, we will get through this.

THANK YOU!

Peaceful Paths Proudly Serves Alachua, Bradford, and Union Counties. With your help, this is the impact we had in our community last year alone!

The Amazing Give Emergency Relief platform is now open!

In response to the needs of the community in the wake of this world-wide epidemic, the Community Foundation has move the Amazing Give to later in August and re-purposed the giving platform to help local non-profits raise funds to support their important programs.  As Peaceful Paths remains open for those in need during this crisis and Alachua County's new shelter in place directive our need for financial support is greater than ever.  We know these are uncertain times for everyone, so we appreciate any support you are able to give..  You can give as little as $5 or as much as you want. Every dollar will support our vulnerable clients and their children.  The site will remain open throughout the crisis.

We have many basic needs that the public can help with!

Our Outreach Office remains open at 2100 NW 53rd Ave Suite A M-F 9-5 and we can accept donations of basic needs and gift cards only at this time.  Due to limited staff, we are unable to take most clothing and non-essential items unless we specifically arrange for that.

Supporters can visit our Amazon Wish list and ship donations directly to us or you can drop them off at Outreach and buzz the receptionist. She can get you an in-kind receipt and you don't even need to step inside!

Here's a quick list of our current needs, which may change daily!

Cleaning supplies (Antibacterial wipes, soap, spray, etc)
