Buongiorno ~

This occasional series of Notes was launched in gratitude for the many visitors who like to return here, to sustain a relationship with our wines which goes beyond the summary update of our annual Newsletter. Current circumstances bring this intent into deeper focus. In view of the need to suspend the hospitality of our Tasting Rooms, Restaurant and Inn, we are turning to new experiences and pricing advantages, to compensate for interruptions of happy and long established habits.

First, please enjoy the first in an informal series of video presentations which allow our mutual interest in wine understanding to proceed in a constructive and entertaining way. The brief film clip, here, is the timeliest report on a project of Spring planting which we have been preparing for several years, and the fact that it reveals the creation of a new 8.5 acre parcel for our beloved Cabernet Franc will hopefully go a long way toward rewarding a viewing. In less than two weeks, Thursday, April 2nd at 6:00pm (Facebook) and 7:00pm (Instagram), we’ll present a live video of a tasting I’ll be hosting, of Cabernet Franc Reserve from the 2017 vintage, and the 2007, occupying the fencepost above, and available for direct shipping at our online Wine Shop. In turn, these tasting sessions will be compiled in our website’s “News” section, to be of continuing usefulness.

Perhaps you can see where these first audible reports may lead. Nothing pleases us more than that our Reserve Whites are ranked consistently as high as our Reserve Reds, with friends as well as critics, and we shall soon be in peak season for Vermentino picnics in the open shade of Spring. and Easter/Passover holiday dinners with Octagon and Lamb.

For friends of the estate, in a radius as close as Washington, Richmond, or Roanoke, we realize that on-site purchasing has only added to the rewards of a beautiful country drive. Thus we announce “curbside” pick-up for purchasing 3 bottles or more, which may be ordered in advance by telephone or e-mail. This service will be conducted 7 days per week, from Noon to 5:00pm. To place an order, e-mail library1821@barboursvillewine.com or telephone (540) 832-3824 Ext 117. The entire List of wines presented in our online Wine Shop, including previous vintages in magnum and double magnum, will be available this way.

Finally, we are now expanding our generous internet shipping terms, on all wines available through our online Wine Shop. A purchase discount of 10% for 12 or more bottles, and 5% for 6-11 bottles, will apply to every State where we ship. For Virginia, Maryland, Washington, DC, Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, North and South Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, shipping is free on purchases of 12 bottles or more. For California, Oregon, Washington, Texas, and New Mexico, shipping for 12 bottles or more is discounted 50%.

Yes, our hospitality has had to adapt to precautions to protect us all. But the relationship has not shut down, and continues to inspire - and justify - celebration. Now, let’s see how a gentle Spring may launch the 2020 season —

 Cordialmente ~
