[Members Only] Join GARE's COVID-19 Rapid Response Group!

The Government Alliance on Race & Equity (GARE) is a national network of government working to achieve racial equity and advance opportunities for all. Being explicit about naming race as a key factor government must focus on to ensure that we are developing solutions that work for everyone in this emergency. GARE is committed to making sure that we do the best to support governmental institutions in responding to COVID-19 while utilizing a racial equity lens.

The COVID-19 Rapid Response group is open to all GARE members and will be a weekly meeting place where members can learn about how best to respond to COVID-19 as government. Various GARE members will share what they have learned and the group will be a place to problem solve, generate best responses, and gather resources that can be composited into a COVID-19 Rapid Response Guidebook that will prioritize racial equity.

The group will meet every week on Friday, until Dec 25, 2020, 41 occurrence(s). Please download and import the following iCalendar (.ics) files to your calendar system.

People Behind the Movement: Christy Mulligan

Libraries are often considered one of the foremost democratic institutions in America. However, the American library system as a whole has struggled with issues of diversity, equity and inclusion. In this post, we speak with Christy Mulligan on how the GARE framework has helped to establish new norms and catalyze necessary conversations around racial equity among leaders of Hennepin County Library, who are responsible for libraries in Minneapolis and its suburbs.
