Teacher Appreciation Week YEAR

rcaa
Teacher Appreciation Week begins on May 4, but we appreciate educators all year long, especially those who work with students who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, and deaf-blind. Thank you for all your efforts in finding ways to continue educational opportunities for our children, including providing equal access for students while they learn at home.

We at DCMP are inspired when we see teachers and parents going that extra mile to ensure that the educational process is inclusive and equal. Media accessibility is important to us, the U.S. Department of Education, our captioning and description vendors, and the hundreds of educational video producers and distributors who work with us to provide thousands of free, accessible educational videos.

Thank you for your roles during these challenging times in preparing the next generation of Americans for the lives ahead of them!

New Teacher Tool for Creating Multiple Student Accounts and Updated Video Tutorial

create multiple accounts
DCMP has implemented a new tool for educators to expedite the creation of Student Accounts for multiple students. A new interface allows for several names to be added quickly and easily.

Names can be typed in or copied and pasted from a list. The list can come from a text document or spreadsheet. If you use a web-based teaching platform like Google Classroom or Moodle, or a student administration system like PowerSchool, you may be able to export your roster as a CSV or text file, then copy and paste the list to create multiple students.

A username and password will be automatically generated for each student. Optionally, you can instantly add these students to a Class, or group, that you create to assign videos to the entire Class. Visit our Learning Center for more details and a new tutorial video on creating and managing Student Accounts.

Graduation is right around the corner, and many questions are going through students' minds. "What's next?" is not always a question with an easy answer. Your students' plans for getting a job or enrolling in college bring extra considerations this year, and DCMP has resources to help with that transition.

Expectations in Transition MeetingEncouraging Student Participation

Transition planning for high school students has been going on in some formal way for over two decades within the school system. Some states set the transition age at 14, and others started the planning at age 16. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) places emphasis on the importance of the transition planning process, with clear guidelines as to how planning should take place.
