Special note: You may receive this newsletter twice. I have two mailing lists - one global and one specific to classes in Southern California. This email is going to both lists ;).
Dear ones,
A week has passed and the grounds continue to shift beneath our feet. Nearly everyone I know, myself included, is experiencing interruption, upheaval, uncertainty, concern, and varying degrees of anxiousness. Many of us are also carrying hope, curiosity, ideas, compassion, empathy and love as we navigate the unknown. All of the above is right, true, relevant and understandable. I find myself worrying about my elders, family across the country, my friends and former colleagues that work on the front lines in healthcare and the service industry where they don't have a "work from home" option, and for the decision makers in charge that truly have our collective mortality (or, ability to be well) in their hands.
I am exploring different ways to soothe worry as it comes up. I know I need to feel it and honor its presence. That I do. I am finding that limiting screen and tech time is helping to keep me well - centered, fairly calm and level-headed. Dancing in my living room (whether alone or with others via video) has lifted my spirits every time. Facetime with family and friends has filled my heart. A daily check-in with my mother eases the intensity of worry I feel sometimes. Cute animal videos and memes brings me to fits of laughter. Meditation has been a daily non-negotiable ritual, even if for just 10 minutes. I have a stack of books by my bedside where I can open up to a random page and read something uplifting - that's where the prayer above came from. And I am leaning even more deeply into my daily tarot practice, asking my cards every morning, "What can I practice today to cultivate wellness and joy?"
What are you practicing or exploring in the realm of self-care as "normalcy" falls by the wayside?

With the help and expertise of my husband Gary, I finally have a tech set up where my voice and the music can be heard equally well via Zoom. Hooray and massive gratitude to Gary! I am also thrilled that one of my cats, Sheena, appears to be enjoying the opportunity to serve as my occasional co-teacher and our dance cheerleader. She's made two appearances in past classes. And it's hilarious to me as she is actually deaf and blind but clearly she feels the energy of our collective joy and wants to partake. Who can blame her?! More Sheena!
This past week we had over 30 participants tuning in from all over the country - from coast to coast. Hooray!
I will be teaching 2-3 live classes per week, taking it one week at a time as things unfold in the country. Right now, it is important for me (for my sanity) to live in the now, planning only 7-8 days ahead.
This week, I am offering three classes:
Wednesday, March 25, 2020, 6:00PM PDT
Saturday, March 28, 2020, 10:30AM PDT
Sunday, March 29, 2020, 10:30AM PDT
Join for one, two or all three classes.
Please be sure to click on the links below to register.
**Your registration in advance allows me to contact you quickly in the event of an unexpected change
(internet outage, illness, etc).
Each class will be one hour but I have allotted 1 hour and 15 minutes to allow for tech snafu’s and for a closing circle.

There will be no in person classes in the near future. I will continue to heed the guidance of the CDC and local government professionals. Let’s all do our part to flatten the curve.
Feel free to share this invitation with others! To make it easier, you can forward this newsletter to them or direct them to my website at

Some helpful tips:
- If you are not familiar with Zoom, watch this wonderful short video to learn how to participate in a Zoom video meeting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFhAEoCF7jg
- You may want to use a wireless headset – it appears to be a good way to hear the music more clearly. If not, feel free to hook up a speaker to your laptop, tablet or phone OR use the speaker in the device you are using. It’s all good!
- Log in to Zoom 5-10 minutes before class is scheduled to begin. Consider this your arrival time.
- Find a place where you have some room to move around freely.
- When entering the Zoom meeting, put yourself on mute.
- Make Sure Your Sound and Video are ON – there’s a way to test this on your screen.
- Select “Speaker View” on the top right corner of your screen to have the image of me large and clear.
- Enjoy the class and each other!
Looking forward to dancing with you online until we can resume dancing together in person.
With much love always,
Jennifer
