PROJECTS: Hertford Infants, Brunswick Primary, and Plumpton College
Thanks to the overwhelming success of our latest share offer, BHESCo completed 3 solar PV projects, submitting our applications before our Feed-In-Tariff eligibility expired on 31 March 2020. These projects, all on educational facilities in Sussex, will reduce carbon emissions by 1,447 tonnes over their operational lifetime (enough to offset 3.5 million miles of car journeys).
New rental regulations come into force
From 1st April 2020 it will become unlawful for landlords to continue renting any domestic property, with new or existing tenants, that has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) lower than an E rating, which is a poor performance.
Changes must be made to improve a property's energy efficiency before it can be rented out again. BHESCo aims to partner with landlords to help them meet this standard cost effectively.

Big Energy Saving Network wraps up for another year
Since October, as a local Champion for the Big Energy Saving Network, BHESCo have been providing free energy bill advice to residents of Brighton and Hove. In those 6 months we have advised 505 energy customers, achieving combined estimated savings of £36,808 as well as helping people with non-financial support such as meter exchanges, complaints, and Priority Services Register signups.
Earth Day 2020
It is with great sadness that we have to announce the cancellation of our Earth Day 2020 event due to recent restrictions on public gatherings.

However, in preparation for the event we have been filming interviews with some of Brighton's leading sustainability entrepeneurs over the past few months and we look forward to sharing the finished film with you on 22nd April 2020.

COVID-19 Response
Following advice on social distancing from the UK Government, BHESCo have closed our office and all staff are now working remotely from home.
We are still offering free advice to help those struggling with energy bills, and we are continuing our work on various renewable energy and energy saving projects. Full details on our website.

UK has ‘record-breaking’ year for low carbon energy
In 2019, the UK produced 37% of our electricity demand from renewable sources, according to the latest figures from Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). This growth in renewables has allowed greenhouse gas emissions to fall by 3.6% compared to 2018, and almost 28% since 2010.
