TEL virtual drop ins

Join the CLT's Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) team for a tea break virtual drop-in!
Over the coming weeks, we will schedule a series of virtual drop-in sessions . Each week (every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) we will focus on topics that reflect frequently asked questions to the team.

Moving to online teaching and learning

Advice for staff to continue to deliver lectures, seminars and tutorials online is available on the CLT Hub. Please click here to access guidance and resources.

Guidance is also available on online assessment options during the COVID-19 disruption.

Stay in touch with our TEL Community of Practice!

Use the TEL Community of Practice team to ask your peers any questions and share experiences. We will being using this space to point towards guidance, observe your discussion and help to produce further central help and support. Please note that the TEL Team will not be using this space to answer your queries. If you have a specific course or pedagogical question, contact tel@bath.ac.uk by email instead.

Other resources available 

A number of external organisations that work in the educational development and HE sector are also offering new resources in response to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
  • FutureLearn are currently offering a free 'How to teach online' course. Find out more
  • SEDA (Staff and Educational Development Association) have created an editable Google document in which they are collating links to practical resources. Anyone can add suggestions without the need for a Google account.
  • Epigeum are offering a standalone student course on how to make the most of learning online.

Online Learning Summit - 'Growing your university online'

Tuesday 31 March: 9:00 - 16:00
Hosted by the University of Derby Online Learning, this free of charge virtual conference is aimed at both new and experienced online leaders and practitioners. Presentations include: creative solutions to challenging online scenarios, examples of opportunities for transformation, evidence of innovation in online learning and teaching, student success and tools for resources and research.  For more info and to book your place.

Join our virtual Lunchtime Hub

Mon 20 April, 12:30 - 13:45
James Grant, Digital Data & Technology Group, shares his experiences of the ‘Teaching to code and coding to teach’ project, and outcomes so far.
The project, which is led by James and involves participants from across the University, was funded by the Teaching Development Fund in 2018/19. This Hub will be delivered as an online event.

Celebrating academic success

Congratulations to our new HEA Fellowship holders via the Bath Course!

The Bath Course is for lecturers and teaching fellows to develop their understanding of academic practice within their individual, departmental and disciplinary context whilst on probation. Want to get on with writing your Fellowship application via the Bath Scheme and Bath Course and looking for extra guidance or encouragement? Book a place on our next session and the Lead will get in touch to offer online support.

Bath Scheme: Introductory workshop (for prospective Associate Fellows and Fellows:  7 April and 30 April @ 9:30 - 12:30. Again, book a place and the Lead will get in touch to offer online support.

Designing maths e-assessment

This month, the TEL journal club looked at Online Maths Questioning in the article: Delivering an online course using STACK. The article, which details work on an online foundation maths course at the University of Edinburgh, gives three different approaches of instructional design to use e-assessment for developing students' mathematical fluency.
