Sharing the neighbourly love from a distance

Everybody needs good neighbours, especially during tough times. From the small gestures like bringing in bins and waving good morning, to neighbourhood parties and celebrations, all these things turn a street into a community.

Shanthi Golesta lives on Rupert Street in Subiaco and was the winner of our Neighbour Day competition. Her story of a street that sounds more like a family was the perfect example of a neighbourly community and is now on the City's website for everyone to enjoy. Pictured are her two children and fur baby dropping of connection cards and cookies to neighbours during this time of social distancing.

While Neighbour Day may have come and gone there's no better time to reach out to your neighbours and stay connected, even if it is at a distance. Download Relationships Australia's Neighbour Connection Card, print it off, fill it out and drop into your neighbours letterboxes - cookies are optional!
