Hello Church Family!
During these uncertain days, people are afraid and many times we can even see fear on many faces. People are alarmed and feel as though they don’t have control - because the truth is; they don’t. We don't know everything that is going on, when it will be over, and who may or may not get sick. John 14 tells us of a time when the disciples were afraid. During this time Jesus said something that turned their world upside down. Jesus says: “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me” (John 14:1). He didn’t tell them “Think over your problems.” or "Find a solution" Rather, He said, “Don’t be troubled.”
Life is filled with various troubles. It seems as though you get one problem resolved, two more take its place. While we all have reasons to be troubled, there is a bigger reason NOT to be: We know Jesus! He said to His disciples, “Trust in God, and trust also in me” (John 14:1). Letting them know that He brought them this far, he will not abandon them now, and that He knows what He is doing. There are times in our lives when things happen that we just don’t understand. During these time of confusion, it's a good idea to fall back on what we do understand and believe: First, we should understand that God loves us. Second, we should understand that He is looking out for us with our best interests in mind. And lastly, we understand that no matter what happens, He will get us through this.
Let's spend some time with our families in prayer being reminded of the things that are true and understandable. Then we can look to God and His word rather then anywhere else for our source of peace and understanding.
