Defenders of the Downsized: exclusive news for the Layoff-Aid community

As far as downsize activity goes, I’ve never seen anything like the past few weeks.  This newsletter would be overwhelmed if we just listed individual SF Bay Area layoff events like we used to.  More and more groups of affected talent are publicizing layoffs for the benefit of all, so we’ll share a gaggle of those talent-filled spreadsheets.  Also, we’ll introduce an explosion of layoff-covering sites that have been sent our way thanks to our faithful community -- keep the spreadsheets and post-layoff resources coming!

🚨 Newly Available Talent 🚨

Lots of SF Tech

A Mix of SF Tech & Other

Also, want vetted SF Tech Talent that is i) available due to layoffs ii) not on these sheets iii) matched directly to your startup’s openings and iv) responsive to your outreach? The savviest talent acquisition pros use Layoff-Aid for Hiring.
Here Comes the Cavalry

We’ll be first to throw our weight behind any venture that’s helping people affected by layoffs.  I’m inspired to see a surge in layoff-coverage initiatives as well as new articles in the NY Times and TechCrunch. Though we don’t verify or endorse the sites below, I wanted to share in case anyone might find them helpful, especially job-seekers outside the SF Bay Area

The Layoff-Aid Take

Layoff-Aid will continue to build out the best and most targeted hiring network exclusively for SF Bay Area tech talent affected by layoffs, and it’s heartening to see all the new initiatives covering different niches.

However, we think that job-seekers need more right now than simply being a name on a list or even being introduced to the right heads of talent at the right SF startups through the right networks.  This is especially true where there are more job-seekers than opportunities, and where searches end up dragging on longer than usual.

Accordingly, we’re excited to expand our resources to go further beyond the job search than ever before. We don’t have anything public to announce just yet, but we are already piloting additional resources just for Layoff-Aid job-seekers that help with upskilling, mental health, and financial relief.

Know anyone in the Bay Area affected by tech layoffs who has not yet applied? Send them over to Layoff-Aid so we can share our forthcoming resource kits directly.
