Tuesday in Holy Week

On Tuesday in Borg's book, "The Last Week."  Jesus spars with the Temple authorities. They ask him questions in the hopes of exposing him. The authorities engage with Jesus, filled with both anger and fear. Anger that he is turning people away from the temple, and fear because people are listening to His message about God's kingdom. In our first Bible study, we explored Jesus' ability not to get caught up in petty disagreements. We decided it was an intriguing way to live, not to be beholden to outside forces but to follow our own True North. The verbal sparring Jesus engages in outwits them, and the story continues.

Almighty God, Your name is glorified even in the anguish of your Son's death. Grant us the courage to receive your anointed servant who embodies a wisdom and love that is foolishness to the world.empower us in witness so that all the world may recognize in the scandal of the cross the mystery of reconciliation. Amen.
