FIRST Global Newsletter -- 9 May 2020

Byte of... Community Love

Welcome to FIRST Global’s Byte of… newsletter!

We hope this newsletter finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. The world has greatly changed since our last newsletter, and we're experiencing times that, before this point, would have seemed unimaginable to us. But just as every night's darkness has its illuminating light — whether from the brilliant and all-encompassing moon, to the small but mighty stars, to the lanterns that light the path for people to tread — for the FIRST Global family, we too have our moons, stars, and lanterns. In a time where it would be completely understandable to isolate ourselves in our homes and wait for sunrise to come, we have instead chosen to share our light so that others aren't as isolated in the dark. Rather than focusing on the problem, we're focusing on a solution; rather than focusing on the difficulty, we're focusing on love for our community and fellow mankind.

Several teams and individuals from the FIRST Global family have been working to play their part, whether by creating 3D-printed face shields and protective gear, figuring out how to innovate materials from limited resources, or continuing to mentor to youth through online platforms.

It's in times like these that cooperation and coming together to problem-solve are more important than ever, and we continue to be inspired by the enthusiasm, good-will, and love embodied by all of the FIRST Global family. We hope you continue to see this challenge as an opportunity — to care, to innovate, and to help — and do your part to make a difference, however big or small.

Additional Inspiration To Brighten Your Day

Tristan - Inspiring Kids with Autism

"Be who you are and go find your passion." Tristan is passionate about robotics; he also happens to have autism. To him, autism isn’t something that holds him back, but is instead an opportunity to be uniquely himself while making a difference in his own way — even representing his country on the world stage.

Helping Our Earth

We only have one Earth, so we must work to protect it. One way to do so is by combating pollution. FIRST Global participants understand the importance of standing up for our planet, and are working to help make change in their own way.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteers help make great things happen, and FIRST Global couldn't be what it is without our amazing volunteers. So what inspires so many of them to volunteer?
