"The master's tools will never dismantle the master's house." Audre Lorde
Now we will count to twelve
and we will all keep still.
For once on the face of the earth,
let's not speak in any language;
let's stop for one second,
and not move our arms so much.
It would be an exotic moment
without rush, without engines;
we would all be together
in a sudden strangeness.
- an excerpt from 'Keeping Quiet' by Pablo Neruda
What is Being Cultivated in this Global Pandemic
TONIGHT: Tuesday Dharma Gathering at NYInsight (Online!)
7 - 9pmEST
$20 Donation is suggested and will be split between NYInsight and the Teacher.
In this photograph by Annie Liebovitz, she captures painter Agnes Martin in her studio "waiting for inspiration." In this time of a global pandemic, it might feel like our autonomy, or freedoms, have been taken away. But if we pause and look deeper, what is it that we're cultivating right now? What are we bearing witness to, feeling into, and being with? In this evening talk, we'll explore Renunciation, one of the 10 Paramis or Perfections. The practice of renunciation is not about deprivation or asceticism, but clearing the way for greater wisdom, compassion and tenderness to arise. Really looking forward to being with you all tonight!
