FRIDAY APRIL 10, 2020
There are currently 84 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Health District. Confirmed cases will be updated daily at 1:30pm on DelawareHealth.org/covid-19There are currently 5,836 confirmed cases in Ohio, along with 1,755 hospitalizations and 227 confirmed deaths.
**Portions of Delaware County are annexed to Columbus Public Health and Franklin County Public Health based on tax jurisdiction, including Dublin, Washington Township, Columbus and Westerville. If a resident would test positive for COVID-19 in one of those jurisdictions, then the public health department in Columbus or Franklin County would handle that case, even if they reside in Delaware County.
PROTECT PUBLIC HEALTH
ATTENTION SNOWBIRDS  Listen to our very own snowbird, Board of Health member Dolores Smith, on the importance of following Ohio’s orders, including anyone returning from out of state must self-quarantine for 14 days upon arrival, no matter your age.

In addition to those returning after spending winter elsewhere, anyone who has traveled outside of Ohio for any other reason must also self-quarantine for 14 days upon their return. This order does not include truck drivers, healthcare workers, other workers providing essential services, and those who live on the state border.
CLOTH MASKS  The CDC has recommended that Americans wear cloth face coverings (masks) in public to help slow the spread of COVID-19. This recommendation is being made based on studies that show a significant proportion of people with COVID-19 lack symptoms and can transmit the virus to others in close proximity, through speaking, coughing, sneezing or other means.

The CDC offers instructions on creating a no-sew face covering out of a T-shirt; or out of a bandanna, coffee filter, and rubber bands. They also offer instructions on sewing a face covering with 10-by-6-inch rectangles of tightly woven cotton fabric.

About 64 million households across the nation are receiving a paper questionnaire in the mail in the coming days. Households receiving the paper questionnaire can still respond online or by phone, or they can return it by mail in the enclosed envelope. They can choose to respond online at 2020census.gov in English or 12 other languages, or receive assistance through language guides and videos available in 59 languages.

The updated response rates for central Ohio are included below. You to explore the them and the rankings on its website. Delaware County is currently tied for first in Ohio at 60.6%, and Ohio currently ranks 11th in the country for total self-response!

National - 46.7%  |  Ohio - 50.6%  |  Delaware County - 60.6%

While self-response rates are continuing to increase, the rates of increase are slowing down. We encourage Delaware County to do better than they did in 2010, which had a self-response rate of 84%. Remember, the 2020 Census results will help guide funding decisions for things like hospitals, roads, and emergency services.
