Learning fun for your family!

Now is a great time to focus on learning through fun activities. Even things like putting up a tent in the backyard can encourage learning. Together you will follow instructions while practicing team work and communication skills.

Our Small Changes website was created to help families find the learning in activities they do at home while spending more quality time together.
If you missed our last Small Changes email, you can check it out here.

Connect: How to cope with stress
Jo and Harold have been talking about how some life situations can cause stress. Find out about some of the things they like to do if they are feeling a bit stressed.

Once you have watched the video try these activities below:
  • Read through our Stressed out Learning Experience and answer the questions with your family here.
  • Learn about the feelings associated with stress and what we can do about it by reading our Stress Fact Sheet here.
  • Managing stress is one way to keep healthy. This activity encourages us to think of other things that also keep the brain healthy.
Move: Get dancing
Sometimes we can't go outside to do exercise, but there are lots of fun ways we can get our bodies moving inside our homes. Our Educator Kat shares one of her favourite ways to exercise indoors in this video.

Watch the video and give the activities below a try:
  • Have a boogie to Kat and Harold's favourite song from our friends at Feel Brave Nothing like a good friend here.
  • Download the activity Excellent exercise and have a go at filling it in here.
Nourish: A healthy snack
It's important that we eat food to help nourish our bodies. We often need to have a snack between meals to help keep us going. What is the difference between everyday foods, sometimes foods and occasional foods when it comes to snacks?

Together as a family, download Harold's Learning Experience and work through the questions here.
Appreciate: Give complements
Give regular compliments to each person in your family and let them know why you appreciate them.

It might be written in a note tucked under a pillow for someone to find or you might choose to say it face to face.
