Music: Yvette Freeman and Friends - A Portrait of Dinah Washington

Yvette Freeman Hartley Yvette Freeman Hartley (Vocals) Yvette has starred in the Broadway, First National, Paris and International companies of "Ain't Misbehavin'" the New York production of "Dinah Was," based on the life of the legendary jazz singer Dinah Washington, and won the 1998 Obie for Best Actress. Most recently she starred in Ma Rainey at the Huntington Theater in Boston. She played the role of 101 year old Dr. Bessie in Having Our Say at the acclaimed McCarter Theater directed by Emily Mann.
Two of the TV roles she is most proud of is - Nurse Haleh Adams on the acclaimed dramatic series ER, and the character of Evelyn Smalley on the NBC sitcom Working. In 2010 and 2011, Yvette had the honor of being nominated for NAACP Image Award for her role as Dr. Lewis in the soap opera "The Bold and The Beautiful". Her second album "In My Arms" was released in May 2012.

Lanny Hartley Lanny Hartley (Piano) is a member of Northridge United Methodist Church, is a jazz pianist, conductor and composer, and studied Music Education at Indiana University. Jazz piano became his love and he performed with such great Jazz artists as Wes Montgomery, Lou Rawls, and Linda Hopkins. Lanny has also played for such Pop Artists as Thelma Houston, The Fifth Dimension. He has been the Musical Director/Conductor for such shows as Ain't Misbehavin', Tracks (Yolanda King); The Late Great Ladies of Blues and Jazz (Sandra Reeves: The Della Reese Musical Tour; and Dinah Was (New York, Los Angeles, and Williamstown)

Charlie Owens Charlie Owens (Saxophone) Throughout his career Owens has maintained a dedicated commitment to education. If asked what he likes most about being a musician, he immediately replies, "Teaching!... Sharing techniques and experiences with young players expedites their careers and assures that jazz will endure." In addition to private teaching, Owens, James Newton, Red Callender and John Carter co-founded the successful Wind College in 1981. For the past four years the Los Angeles Jazz Society "Jazz in Schools" Program has employed Owens as leader of an entertaining group of musicians who present free interactive jazz concerts in Los Angeles elementary schools. These concerts are designed to stimulate jazz awareness and create a future audience.

Michael Alvidrez Michael Alvidrez (Bass) Bassist Michael Alvidrez was born and raised in East Los Angeles, and began studying the bass while in high school. He continued his education at Pasadena City College and later completed a Bachelor of Music degree at California State University, Northridge. He has studied with Putter Smith, Bobby Bradford, Gary Pratt, and Darek Oles. Michael has performed/recorded with: Isla Eckinger, Riner Scivally, Javier Vergara, Dr. Bobby Rodriguez, Chuck Manning, Bill Barrett, Ramon Banda, Barbara Morrison, Donald Dean, Peter Myers Orchestra, Mike Barone Big Band, Vinny Golia, Phil Ranelin, Mike Garson, Dan Clucas, and Michael Vlatkovich. He has been the house bassist at the World Stage jam session for several years now, and in that time has gained experience playing with Rose Gales, Jerrell Ballard, Daryl Darden, Dwight Trible, Richard Grant, and Azar Lawrence. He has played at many venues around town, notably the Ford Amphitheater, Central Avenue Jazz Festival, Los Angeles County Fair, Valley Performing Arts Center, Vibrato, and Catalina's Jazz Club.

Don Littleton Don Littleton (Drums) Don Littleton is an accomplished percussionist. His mastery of an enticing array of instruments in his art has uniquely endowed him with the finesse to span many genres, encompassing orchestral, musical theater, rhythm and blues, hip hop, reggae, blues, and is especially proficient in all styles of jazz. A veteran with jazz artist and venues around the world. Don Littleton has a great heart for people and the music.

Dusty Stiles
Dusty Stiles (Photography) Dusty Stiles has been a resident of Northridge since 1979. He is retired after teaching English for 5 years at Abington High School in Abington, Pa., and teaching television production, studio operations and cable TV operations for 35 years at Beverly Hills High School. He continues to consult for TV projects and provides engineering services for studio and editing facilities. Photography, still and video, personal and professional, has been a continuing interest for more than fifty years. He has been concentrating on scenic, landscape and nature photography, mostly in California and Nevada. He tries to capture compelling moments in natural settings. He has won numerous photo awards in Nature and Landscape competitions. Currently he is vice president of the Santa Clarita Valley Photographers Association, in charge of planning photo trips.
