Our core mission at SPUR is to strengthen our community and give volunteers a platform to engage and help. Now more than ever, acts of kindness and solidarity are necessary, and we couldn’t be more proud of the ways our community has come together these last few weeks.

We have been busy at work, identifying immediate needs and mobilizing to address them. Our array of volunteer opportunities have now been replaced with efforts ranging from sewing masks and grocery shopping for our most vulnerable neighbors, to connecting phone pals and providing resources through an online support forum.

We would like to thank our donors who have continued to provide financial gifts in support of our work.
While things are challenging, they are not impossible. Giving is a big part of helping, as is volunteering. Despite giving being down and fundraisers likely postponed, our work doesn't stop. It won't be 50, $1,000 gifts that get us through right now, but the 5,000, $10 gifts.
Please consider partnering with us now. Set-up a monthly gift of any amount or donate one-time. Be part of the good in this time of crisis.

Thank you to our volunteers and supporters. Thank you to all the essential personnel working to keep people healthy, nourished and safe. These are challenging times, but we know we will get through this together.

Give now.
Recently, we received an email from the caregiver to a local man who was connected with SPUR volunteers:

"I wanted to thank SPUR so much for helping to mobilize a wonderful group of volunteers to reach out and talk by FaceTime to J.  A young man with an intellectual disability, J loves to talk and engage with people, but since his day program closed, he has found life to be more limited and challenging.  The wonderful volunteers have opened up the world to J.  They have talked to him, made him laugh, shared stories about their lives and family and just kept his spirits lifted with the help of technology.  Their simple kindness and support mean so much."

Thank you to all of the SPUR volunteers who have brightened J.'s day and continue to help so many others!
Teamwork is at the heart of everything we do at SPUR.  Our work continues as we partner with local leadership, service organizations, and residents to bring people together in Lynn, Marblehead, Salem, and Swampscott.

We will all need support in different ways over the coming weeks, and fortunately, there are many people who are eager to help. On our website you will find ways to request assistance, offer assistance, information on sewing face masks, a business directory we invite you to add your business details to in order to centralize local business offerings, virtual community groups and more!

In addition to the above, our meal services will continue at both Lifebridge and My Brother's Table, though instead of inviting volunteers to cook the food and drop off, we will be inviting you to donate so that we can purchase from local restaurants and have delivered.  Our work is only increasing at this time, join with us!

Hello neighbor!

Do you have elderly or vulnerable neighbors? Do they know your phone number? We have formatted this printable sheet to make it easier to connect.
