1.TUMAINI COUNSELLING CENTRE COVID-19 UPDATE

We are still providing services

The uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic is wreaking havoc in ministry plans, scheduled meetings, financial markets, education, travel, vacations, and health.  It is also interrupting our capacity to meet physically for times of worship, fellowship, encouragement, and prayer.  In fact, it is hard to think of nearly any area of life that hasn’t been impacted.

The staff at the Nairobi and Kampala Tumaini Counselling Centres are writing to inform mission organizations that we continue to be available to support administrators and personnel who are located throughout Africa.

Although our physical offices are not open during this stage of the crisis, we do remain available for online sessions.  Our clinical team is not only continuing to work with established clients, but also available for supporting new clients – all through Zoom meetings or email.

In addition, we have added a Pandemic category to our website with resources and perspectives from a Christian and mission perspective.  Those resources can be found at https://tumainicounselling.net/category/pandemic/

If you come across resources that you have found especially helpful, please let us know at tumaini.ac@aimint.org so that we can consider making those available to others as well.

In addition, we are willing to consider providing webinars tailored to specific concerns, needs, and populations. Contact us at tumaini.ac@aimint.org if you would like to explore that option with us.

We invite you to let your missionary staff know of our availability.  As our office phones are not being monitored, we are relying on email.

Existing clients:

You may contact their counsellor directly through an email that they have provided for you; Kampala clients may contact tumaini.kampala.ac@aimint.org or through general intakes at clinicalassist.ac@aimint.org

New clients: Missionaries or administrators interested in initiating services at clinicalasst.ac@aimint.org

3. THRIVE WORLDWIDE

I hope you're staying safe during these unprecedented and uncertain times.
Our team is doing well. In fact, we're busy exploring creative ways to support you and your organisation to be healthy, resilient and connected until things can return to normal.

From its inception, Thrive has specialised in remote working. And this has two implications for us now.
Firstly, I'm pleased to say that most of our services are continuing as normal. And secondly, it means that we're well placed to help you if you're looking to transition to remote working.

With this in mind, here are four changes at Thrive to tell you about:
  1. We've created resources and services to help you in your response to Covid-19. Find them below - and more will come.
  2. We're also creating guides to remote working. Keep an eye on our website for these, or email me if you'd like to discuss one-on-one support.
  3. We're pausing face-to-face occupational health & psychosocial services. You can still book online or telephone appointments of course.
  4. We ask that you only book face-to-face medical and travel health appointments if it is urgent. We will continue to review this.
Stay safe and healthy.

4. DIDASKO ACADEMY: FREE ONLINE FUNDRAISING COURSE

Didasko Academy offers a free online course to help missionaries with their fundraising efforts.

The vast majority of missionaries are responsible for raising their own support. Most find this process challenging, and some struggle with issues like finding the balance between having faith and asking for money. Some just don't know where to start.

This Personal Fundraising for Missionaries course addresses the obstacles and challenges of fundraising, what the Bible says about it, the principles and fruitful practices of fundraising and practical tips and ideas. The course is self-paced and consists of video mini-lectures, quizzes, reflection questions and online discussion forums. The course also provides spreadsheet templates such as a multi-currency budget spreadsheet and appointment planner.

The course takes 6-12 hours to complete.

All Didasko Academy courses can be accessed free of charge from the website at https://www.dasko.org
