  • American Association of Woodturners Membership
    IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ

As of just a few days ago, the AAW (American Association of Woodturners) had to cancel the annual symposium that was to be held in Louisville for the first time ever.  This great group of men and women have been working very hard to make difficult decisions to keep the clubs and members moving forward into an uncertain future.  To help support them, I want to encourage all non-members to look into membership.  The costs are not significant, but the benefits you'll get are!  New membership fees (or donations) can help those at the AAW continue their work to the best of their ability.  For more information, visit their site here.

  • AAW Chapter Outreach and Assistance
We've contacted nearly all of the AAW chapters across the country this week to start connecting with individual groups and offer our assistance in any ways that we can.  With so many new changes, we are doing our best to support you all.  Whether you need technical help with your computers or hardware setups, educational articles/power point/videos for meetings, donations for fund raising, wood delivered for video conferenced classrooms or demos, or just wood for you club members...just let us know what we can do for you!

  • COVID-19 Information
We have been incredibly fortunate here at our shop to be in an area that has not been heavily affected by the spread of the coronavirus over the last several weeks.  We are still shipping orders out daily, and producing new turning stock as quickly as we can to try and keep up with the demand.

We take your wellness very seriously, and are taking extra precautions here to help do our part to keep you safe and healthy.  If you have specific questions, please do not hesitate to reach out for more information.

  • Expected new woods
We have new ambrosia maple, Bradford pear, red elm (some very nice logs here) and more coming in.  As things start to dry up here, we expect to start getting in a lot of new logs for sawing...finally!
New kiln dried woods will be coming soon as well.  Expect to see kiln dried sapele first, with other out of stock species coming shortly thereafter as well.

  • Bargain Bin
We've added hundreds of new blanks to our web site's bargain bin.

Recent Wood Additions

Ash - Green/undried and Kiln Dried

Ambrosia maple contains streaks of color which are created when ambrosia beetles tunnel through living trees, where they leave behind traces of fungi which discolor the surrounding wood, producing a streaked effect.  All available pieces are individually graded for sufficiently heavy ambrosia streaking.  Kiln dried pieces available 2"-3" thick.

Black Line Spalted Hackberry - Green/undried

Beautifully spalted hackberry pieces are available as of yesterday.  All still very solid (no soft, punky areas).  All are individually photographed to display all sides of each piece.
Bradford Pear - Green/Undried

We currently have a good selection of Bradford pear blanks in stock.  This wood has very fine grain and is excellent for pieces that require both turning and carving.
Hackberry - Green/Undried

Hackberry is usually a very light white or yellowish white wood, but frequently develops black or denim blue staining, as well as trace amounts of black line spalting.  Heavily spalted items are listed seperately as "Spalted Hackberry" on our web site.
Padauk - Kiln Dried

We've added a handful of larger 2" thick kiln dried padauk blanks to our inventory.
Select Maple - Green/undried and Kiln Dried

Select maple is a byproduct of our production of ambrosia maple, curly maple, and/or spalted maple. While none of these pieces have heavy color and/or figure, they all contain varying amounts of unique character.  These pieces are an excellent value, and always remains one of our top-selling types of wood.  We currently have 2" and 3" thick kiln dried pieces for sale.
Red Gum - Green/undried

Red gum is created when a sweet gum tree develops mineral staining within the heartwood of the tree as it is growing.  This produces a variety of blues, grays, reds, and oranges that you won't find anywhere else!
