Virtual
on-line meeting
Turning
your investor roadshow into virtual events. Reach
investors the way they want.
When
our whole way of business has been turned upside-down, and
society is shut down for personal meetings, business
continues to function. Companies are still operating,
stocks and shares are still being traded and the stock
exchanges are still open. Investors may be thinking more
carefully but they are still looking for new investment
opportunities. And they are still doing business, bu this
time it’s online and it’s virtual. And, besides the
obvious interest in medtech and healthcare, any business
that is building communications, entertainment and media
platforms or remote employee engagement solutions could be
in a position to propel itself forward.

Investors
are awake, not asleep
About
ten issues are now in progress in Sweden as this
newsletter is distributed and everyone is now using
digital outreach and solutions with virtual meetings,
including those with investors, streamed over the
Internet. We are also seeing the development of
online pitch events, with invited investors and
participants, having founders and management teams
pitching their business "into your home."
In Sweden and the U.K everybody is pretty much now willing
and able to attend virtual meetings with companies
pitching to raise equity and debt capital. And every
business and financial journal is now sending daily email
newsletters out to tens of thousands if not hundreds of
thousands subscribers. Because everybody wants to now see
how stocks are performing and how the markets develop
throughout the day.
Most of these newsletter and financial platforms offer an
issuing company a so-called "stand-alone mailing". This
means that the site sends out a special mailing to its
registered customers in the form of an
advertorial.Business magazines and the daily newspapers
with business sections also offer advertorials similar to
business material to promote the company and what it does.
The critical factor here though is to create keen interest
for a company’s business and its model, marketing the
brand to attract investors so they learn more about the
company and act to subscribe to a new share issue.
Companies wanting meet potential investors would
previously have done a “roadshow” – organised meetings at
various locations, whether they be in Sweden, the U.K. or
wherever. These meetings are generally attended by between
50-250 potential investors and each company pitching might
have anywhere between 5 to 30 minutes to pitch their
business and answer questions. Some of these events would
also allow and include specific pre-qualified match-making
and “meet the investor” sessions. Investors are usually
hand-picked and specifically invited for their relevance
to the businesses pitching, although more general events
may have a broad cross-section of investors attending. One
thing to note though, is that larger investors generally
prefer private one-on-one meetings, and especially larger
institutional VCs and PE firms will want to triage their
deal-flow before meeting a business and the founders.
Given where we now find ourselves in how we do business it
makes perfect sense to respond to investor needs and put
everything for these meetings and roadshows in to virtual
meetings and seminars. Research for C2 Capital clearly
shows that investors are just as comfortable today using
digital comms. platforms to replace the traditional
face-to-face meeting. They do require a little more
preparation and direct marketing for investors to want to
connect to “Live Meetings”, but the value they get
including the time for Q&A over a “live” chat is just
as great. With C2 Capital we also provide an experienced
moderator who can ask the right questions that investors
want to know, and help to facilitate the discussion around
the investment opportunity. Each meeting is recorded so
investors can also revisit the event.
At C2 Capital we have an experienced team for running
virtual roadshows and Seminars. For over 20 years, C2
Capital have been conducting actual IRL roadshows,
producing newsletters and information flow for investors,
acted as IR managers for clients and developed a highly
sought-after set of moderator skills and expertise. For
example the Nordic stock exchange requires companies to be
listed, and that they introduce themselves to the market
with at least two roadshow events, providing valuable
information on the company to potential investors. This is
so the market can become acquainted with the company, its
services and products, and to get a true understanding of
who the management of the company is and how they are
going to grow the business.
Last year we had a CEO of a foreign company listed on
Nasdaq speak openly about the differences on how to
promote a company between Sweden and the rest of Europe.
They not only send out multiple IR press releases, but in
Sweden investors also place a greater demand on
information and on meeting the management of the company.
Probably the Swedish investors.
Online
widening of share ownership
The Nordic stock exchanges require a minimum of 300
shareholders and that each investor holds shares of
not less than €500. However, for the company to achieve
decent trading volumes, the company needs at least 1,000
shareholders who are interested in trading the shares. C2
Capital clients in Sweden have over 1,000 registered
interested investors, and to whom the principal owner can
donate a few shares in the register. This creates a
quick and inexpensive way to help widen share ownership.
These new shareholders will then start to receive the IR
press releases and are invited to attend digital
roadshows. They also get a good offer to buy shares in
addition to the ones they already have, so the company
finally meets the requirements set by the marketplace for
at least 300 investors holding shares for at least €500.
Attend
our upcoming seminar
C2 Capital is running a number of virtual roadshows for
clients to find, discover and “meet” investors that are
interested in their business. Hosting one of these virtual
events is a highly cost-effective way to get in front of
your target audience. They allow you to “meet” attendees
on their terms, either live whever they happen to be or
on-demand, and take up less time and fewer resources than
an in-person event may need.
It’s
also worth remembering that in-person events are
restricted to prospects and customers that can physically
attend. Hosting a virtual event means your audience can
attend from wherever they live or work. Even if your event
has a regional focus, you can expand your original
audience significantly. Instead of only inviting investors
that are within a certain radius of your roadshow, you can
widen your targeting to include anyone who could be
interested, regardless of where they happen to be.
When
it comes to organising, hosting, moderating, and most
importantly – attracting potential investors – to your
virtual investor roadshow or pitch event, C2 Capital
delivers a full IR service to help you reach investors,
raise your investment and fund the growth of your
business.
