A message from the Headteacher

Update 3rd April
Dear Parents / Carers,

As you know, we are sending information and updates via our Class Dojo platform - so please make sure you check in regularly to see what's going on. We get more people accessing information from Dojo than Newsletters on email!

One of the important roles we undertake at school is safeguarding the children in the community. If you have concerns regarding any children or families in our school community we have access to the same support networks as normal. The Local Authority and the local community (the local community especially) are responding to meet the needs of vulnerable people. Therefore, please contact me directly d.railston@alumnismat.org or with Mrs Lawson (email below) if you have a concern or you'd like us to try and access some help for you.

After Easter the teachers will be going back to a more structured 'learning' provision. I have asked parents to let me know how the provision is going and the feedback has been positive. The teachers are doing very well at getting to grips with a new way of working and are also hoping this situation is as short as possible.

Please use the link on Class Dojo to let us know about the learning.

I do hope that everything is going well for you. Please remember that the teachers can give advice on what your child is doing. So, please get in touch if you need to know anything.

Mrs Lawson is also providing our school link with the Local Authority Early Help systems. She is contactable by email (m.lawson@alumnismat.org) and will also be getting in touch with some families as we follow up on how things are going.

We have added some notifications below for you to be aware of.

Finally, keep in touch. Post pictures of the children learning! It's important that the children remain in a routine and feel part of a community!

We all at CMPS wish you the very best for the coming weeks.

This information is directly from the Local Authority:

Local Authority Early Help Information sharing. 3.4.2020 COVID19

The following information is to highlight the need to Stop Loan Sharks

In the current economic climate, there has been an increase in loan shark activity due to the upturn in calls to the National Trading Standards Illegal Money Lending Team’s national hotline, particularly for those victims who are now unable to repay their loans.  Therefore the teams have put together the following resource for you to share with your service users in order to further highlight the dangers of using loan sharks.

In addition there are many other resources including children’s colouring books etc. which can be found on the Stop Loan Shark website.

Department for Work and Pensions Update

  • We are stopping debt recovery activity as soon as possible. This includes all benefit-related overpayments, Social Fund loans and Tax Credit debts. Many activities will cease immediately but others may take a longer to implement. The suspension of recovery action is in place until further notice.

What this means:

  • Do not refer new overpayments from Universal Credit and Legacy benefits.

  • Do not refer benefit arrears to Debt Management to offset against overpayments. Customers will be able to request that arrears are paid to them.

  • Deductions from Universal Credit and Legacy for benefit overpayments, Social Fund loans and Tax Credit debts managed by Debt Management will be suspended. This action will commence immediately but an IT solution will need to be implemented to stop some deductions for Debt Management.

  • The recovery of Advances by deduction from Universal Credit payments will continue.

  • Local Authorities will suspend referral of Housing Benefit overpayments.

  • The transfer of Tax Credit debt from HMRC has already been suspended.

  • Recovery from estates will temporarily cease.

For citizens who are not on benefits, we have directed private sector debt collection agencies to stop their activity for Debt Management customers and we are suspending voluntary debt repayments and recovery by Direct Earnings Attachments.
