OUR HEROES

The Club Together initiative has 70+ volunteers, and over 60 clients have been provided with a service from Shankill to Blackrock.

Shopping has been delivered and prescriptions filled.

The team behind the team of volunteers has been holding daily meetings via zoom, and o much has been learnt from the interactions to date, as we build the volunteers knowledge.

We have come across some incredible stories of isolation and people are so appreciative of what the club is doing.

Michael Jackson is the club champion, and we have an online tracker system in place for each contact made, using this to feedback any concerns back to DLRCC.

The initiative is ready to roll out to the remaining volunteers and the team is currently in the process of bedding down teams for specific locations.

The poepl who have put their hand up have been brilliant and are a massive credit to the club.

Read all about how you might be able to help if more numbers are required, depending on how long the 'cocooning'  is in place for.

CUALA QUICKFIRE 10

This has been a great success and we have a huge backlog of players, mentors and all sorts who we will be putting up on the site over the coming days and weeks.

What's Jessica Lewis's favourite meal, what's Cormac Spain's favourite TV show, Did Mick Kirwan really once look that young? What's Rachel Hartnett's favourite movie?

You know these are the questions you've always wanted to be answered.

Paul Cahill has been having a bit of fun on his twitter account, recreating scenes from Thelma and Louise and Jurassic Park in his back garden, while Dad Des has been running alphabet quizzes from the kitchen table.

THE BIGGER PICTURE FOR THE GAA

Rob Hartnett had a good interview with GAA Director General Tom Ryan earlier today in which he speaks about the impact of COVID-19 on the community of the GAA, the financial implications, the impact on clubs and how the season may yet play out.

It's not a bad way to while away a few minutes and learn what's happening in the wider world of the GAA.

INSIDE THE 2K

Derek Dunne sent us this reminder of what Hyde Road looks like.  We've checked, it's inside his 2K radius.

KEEP IN TOUCH WITH TEAMS

Try and keep in touch with your teams and groups on social media.  Why night try and organise a quiz on whats app or online so that the lads and the girsl still feel as though they are part of a team.

Let technology be your friend and if you don't know how, put a call out to fellow mentors and parents or across the club.  There is plenty of help and we will look to share smart ideas on social and online.

ONLINE RESOURCE FOR COACHES

Sure when we are at home and off the training fields why not take the chance to swot up on the coaching resources that are available online.

The Player pathway tells you what level of development the players should be at while there are a host of videos and drills to make you as good a coach as you can be.

Visit the Cuala Coaching Centre online here.
