April 2020 News

So much has changed. Bikes still rule!
April is Valley Bike Month
Our friends at Valley Metro have celebrated Valley Bike Month in April for decades. This year, COVID-19 had other plans. Though the in-person events are cancelled or postponed, there are still contests and giveaways at their ShareTheRide.com site and Facebook page. Ride on! And wear a mask.
Social Distance Rides
Those stalwarts at the Tempe Bike Action Group (TBAG) don't let a little pandemic get in their way. Join their Social Distancing Bike Challenges and keep moving. See more info.
Money Talks
April is budget season for the City of Phoenix. Normally, we urge you to attend hearings and speak up for bikes, but this year public meetings are suspended. You can access audience-free meetings or submit input online.
PHX Seeks BFC Gold
Speaking of the City of Phoenix, they've applied for recognition as a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists. Share your opinion about whether Phoenix belongs on the list by April 27.
Share the Road License Plate
Our friends at the Rob Dollar Foundation and Uphill Into the Wind worked hard to get a Share The Road license plate added as an option for Arizona motorists. Watch this page to order yours beginning April 20.
Buffered Bike Lanes Added
Woot! The 15th Avenue bike lanes got buffers from Camelback to Thomas Road in March. Bike lanes on 91st Avenue from Illini to Lower Buckeye Road will be getting new buffers this month. Ditto Roeser from Central to 7th Avenue. Way to go, Phoenix!
