Conscience Connections:
Resources with a Global Reach
|
"God forbid that we actually have an outbreak in the camp, because that will be a real disaster. That would be a humanitarian crisis on another level. We are really, I think, sitting on a time bomb."
- Dr. Jamilah Sherally, who works inside the Moria refugee camp in Greece with the Boat Refugee Foundation, a Dutch nonprofit |

Dear Friends,
As lockdowns become the norm in countries around the world, reports of human rights violations are on the rise. In our Collective Care Chats last week, Coalition members spoke firsthand about the lack of essentials in their communities, how international aid organizations are pulling out of the countries where they're needed the most, and the daily fear they feel by the excessive military presence on their streets.
To support these members and shine a light on increasing forms of repression and abuse globally, this week's newsletter highlights the myriad ways that civil liberties and political rights are being threatened amidst the pandemic, and shares a number of resources that may be helpful to our supporters, members, and, especially, survivors who may be facing retraumatization in a world where routines have been upended and uncertainty abounds.
We will continue to provide new resources designed to help Sites of Conscience and their communities manage this crisis, including webinars and dialogue guides. Please check our social media channels ( Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) and our website for the latest news. As always, thank you for your insight and dedication, and please feel free to be in touch with us directly at coalition@sitesofconscience.org.

Human Rights Today |
Along with this pandemic has come an increasing number of reports of human rights violations, with activists in many countries observing a scaling back of civil liberties and political rights, a rise in excessive military force, and a surfacing of neo-colonialist rhetoric. Here are several resources that reflect the widespread scale and breadth of the problem.
