From the Principal's Desk
by Ryan Reed
Hi Everyone,
Week 1 of at-home learning is concluding - thank you for your engagement! Our classes have begun with students completing their work and joining up in optional online tutorials with classmates and teachers.
You will have received information about Tier 2-Option courses proceeding ahead. We are fortunate to have so many of our courses continuing on. We know that many of these courses are enjoyable in person but the content and skills students can acquire online is still valuable! As well, things change every week it seems from Alberta Education and for students to continue on with their optional programming would be beneficial. We hope to see many of our students engaging in their optional programming.
Our focus has been on providing at-home learning for students while coordinating a staff of nearly 80 all working at a distance. This has been quite an undertaking. With that said, there are a few issues parents have questions about that RVS will be addressing in the coming weeks.
Graduation ceremonies are currently under review. We have submitted the information needed by RVS regarding our graduation events and are awaiting their direction. We know this is difficult for our gr. 12 students and will communicate as soon as we are provided direction.
Fees reimbursements for out of province field trips are being dealt with centrally by RVS as well. We have provided everything required and are awaiting direction from them. They have a lot to go through currently and are working hard to do this.
Fees for option classes are also being looked at by RVS. Any news on this should come shortly as we move forward with option programming.
Lastly, we know that much has changed in our lives over the past few weeks. If you are feeling overwhelmed by the requirements of at-home learning, if you need support with technology, or just need questions answered, please reach out to your student's teacher advisor as they are there to help if needed. If they don't have the answer, they can find someone who does.
Thanks again for your support and patience, have a good weekend.
Ryan

You received information about this in your email yesterday. We would encourage you to spend time this weekend looking at the course selection sheet so course registration goes well on Monday.
