April Guild Meeting Cancelled

Dear TKG Members,

We hope this newsletter finds you safe and well, and enjoying some knitting and other creative projects in your quiet time.

It will likely come as no surprise, but unfortunately we have cancelled the April 15th Guild meeting, which would have been the Knitty Fashion Show with Amy Singer.

We have been informed that Innis College will be closed until further notice and it is important that we all be following the governmental and health recommendations of social distancing and staying home where possible in order to keep each other and our health care workers safe at this challenging time.

The Guild’s Annual General Meeting, scheduled to be held in May each year, is postponed. Stay tuned for details on when and what form it will take.

Though we cannot be physically present with each other, you may find some of the virtual initiatives in this newsletter interesting. Take care of yourselves and each other.

TKG Board

Supporting LYS Partners and Frolic Vendors
OK, we can't go to Knit Nights or take classes in person, and we can't go to the Frolic or other yarn festivals right now, but we can still support our loyal LYS Partners and Frolic vendors. If you have the means, please look them up, see if they are offering online shopping or curbside pick-up and make a purchase. Consider buying gift certificates for yourself or as gifts for friends who may be having financial difficulties these days. Let's help each other out and we will get through this.
Looking to get involved? The TKG Board is recruiting!
If you're interested in getting involved with the TKG Board, now is your chance! Some board roles are becoming vacant in May, and the Board is looking for members who are interested in joining in the organising of monthly meetings, or other guild events. The Board works in a democratic, collaborative fashion, and there are opportunities to help with communications, admin, finance, partnerships etc. The monthly commitment is typically in the 2-4 hr range. If you're interested in helping out, get in touch with Guild President, Carol Mather-Miles, president@torontoknittersguild.ca.
Destash Restash MAL - still open!

The MAL has been extended until the end of May to give people more time to participate. Find all the information on participating in the TKG Ravelry thread

Also, as the “REstash” portion of the MAL, you will receive a bonus entry if you use any pattern or product purchased from one of the 2020 vendors or prize sponsors purchased after March 14th, 2020. Many of the vendors are organizing online updates for the inventory they had prepared for Knit City Montreal, the Frolic and other events so please check their social media and websites. If you have the means to make a purchase, please help support them.

April Member Destash - postponed
Many thanks to those members who signed up for the April Pre-Frolic Destash.  You know who you are, and you will just have to hold on to those excess skeins for a little while longer. We would certainly hope to be able to have an opportunity soon for members to sell and/or exchange their surplus yarn.
Keep in touch - TKG Member Spotlight
So, what are you knitting (or crocheting, or spinning)?

We'd love to keep Guild members connected via the TKG Spotlight tag on Ravelry or Instagram. Make a post in the TKG Spotlight Ravelry thread in our TKG Ravelry group, or use the hashtag #tkgspotlight on your next post on Instagram.
Bluprint (formerly Craftsy) online classes free
until April 16
Bluprint is an online provider of classes on knitting, spinning, crochet, sewing and many other crafty pursuits. They are not affiliated with the Guild, but an astute member pointed out their classes are free until April 16th, 2020, and might be an interesting diversion for some. Their classes cover topics ranging from steeking, to cast on techniques to math for knitters, among others, and are hosted by experts, including our beloved Kate Atherley
Celebrating the Joy of Yarn.
