👋 I'm Ariel, a 15-year-old Innovator at the Knowledge Society (TKS). Currently, I'm researching emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence. I'm especially interested in neural networks and their applications. March has been really interesting, and I'd love to share what's been going on in my life for the past month! 😊

Global Challenge: Kidogo 🌎

How can we help Kidogo improve access to quality, affordable Childhood Education in East Africa's low-income communities?

👩‍🎓 The past month I've been investing a lot of time in researching ways to reduce expenses in early childhood education! The ages of 0 to 5 are crucial to brain development, children require a supportive learning environment to grow to their full potential! 😱 Education is a huge foundation and helps pave the way for the rest of their lives! 🎓

🏫 Kidogo was created with the goal of giving all children quality education. Kidogo is based on a type of social-franchising model that supports a network of 👩🏾‍🤝‍👩🏾 entrepreneurs (Mamapreneurs) to operate childcare centers!
Our solution focuses on revamping their marketing for greater exposure to donors, and leveraging sack farming to generate additional income for Mamapreneurs! 🌱

COVID-19

Arguably, everyone is being affected by the current Coronavirus situation. All over the media and most definitely within TKS, people are speaking up and voicing their opinions on the present circumstance. 📢
So here's my take!

I figured by reflecting on our past experiences with pandemics, we can learn how to better react and defend against this current one! 📜

So I researched how past pandemics spread, the implications, and how they were eventually stopped so that we could avoid making the same mistakes! 🔑

There's tons of important knowledge packed in this handbook from previous pandemics, to the science behind viruses, and possible cures to COVID-19! 🧪

Breaking CAPTCHA

Using a Keras neural network to break through a CAPTCHA test! 🔥

Remember those pesky tests you’ve had to go through to sign up for an account? 💻
CAPTCHAS, also known as Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart are designed to let humans in and keep robots out to prevent spam. 🤖
Using a Convolutional Neural Network (CNNs) I trained a model to bypass CAPTCHA tests with an accuracy of 99.6%! 🎉

📷 First I gathered many images of the CAPTCHA tests and extracted each character from the images. After pre-processing the images I then fed them through a Convolutional Neural Network and trained the network to draw correlations to the corresponding character using Supervised Learning.🔖 The model is able to take in image data and return the correct letter or number in the picture!

🙌 This was a really interesting and gratifying project to code! It really shows just how far machine learning and neural networks have come from when CAPTCHAs were first implemented! 🤯

Next Steps

Wow, March went by in a blink! 🥳
Currently, I'm working towards a few new interesting projects with Reinforcement Learning using Keras and Pytorch! There's always lots of projects to work on and code using neural networks! Along with lots to build in Unity and Xaramin! I'm also entering a Moonshot challenge, so stay tuned and stay safe! 🚀
