MY TOP 10 SIGNAGE FAVORITES!

In my last post 'Signage Part 1' I talked about all the places you could put signage within your retail store or business.  If you missed that one you can check it out here...  SIGNAGE PART I
Now I'm going to show you my favorites.
Let me know which one or ones you like best.
Unless the photos are my own, they came from instagram and pinterest - both great places for inspiration!

While these signs are definitely custom, they could be easily reproduced.  I like they because they are:
A - attractive
B -  have a message and...
C -  can be used for way-finding.
#2
There is a 'freshness' to the chalkboard sign and I can see it being used in exteriors like this one or interiors as well. The important thing is to keep them 'pristine'.  We don't want to see messy chalk.
Check out dollar stores or 'Michaels' for inexpensive chalk boards. This is about the only time that I feel 'handwritten' signages work. I've had the signs done by artists like the menu board below, and at the same time it doesn't have to be a professional, as long as it's 'true' to who you are.

These simple blocks of wood or tree cross-cuts can be used for many items.
Soaps, jewellery, eyewear...
You can see how easy they would be to reproduce.
The organicness of them makes them 'perfect' at this time in design.

#4 Above are two great ideas with cardstock paper.

The one from Free People on the left image can easily be replicated by any retailer just by having a printer. The paper could be from a Craft source (with the border), and your own message inside that border. The clip, although it looks vintage could be sourced or made with a clip and a ring.

The image on the right with the ribbon is perfect for the end cap.  It is in a plastic sleeve (doesn't have to be) but the company name and a message of "KEEP COOL IN THIS TROPICAL PRINT DRESS"  entices the customer to purchase. The customer imagines themselves in that dress.  From a previous post, I said that in these difficult Covid 19 virus days...the more you use your mannequins in clothing which you then post on line...the more the customer imagines themselves in that clothing...leading to 'sales'. - even if you're closed.

I saw the SCRABBLE tiles for the first time a while back in Washington State at Niva Green. The owner used them judiciously throughout the store. This look isn't for everyone, but in this little gem of a store, they were perfect!
Don't you love her 'think clean thoughts' framed stand by the soap displays?

OLIVE THE BEST  signage company used their laser engraver to burn images into recycled fence boards to create a perfect rustic look. lt's really effective.  ORGANIC & TRUE TO THEIR BRAND.
#7
The ORIGINAL MUNSTERS' sign could be easily reproduced on card stock.  I like it because it's informational and professional looking and..has the John Fluevog Logo on the card. You can purchase a showcard base, sometimes called 'cardboard struts'  like the one on the John Fluevog Munsters sign or the one below to do this.

There are many opportunities for table or shelf signs inserted into holders or frames.  What's important about these is that they look professional. Your Font, the size of the font and the colours that you use should always fit your Brand Message, and they should be consistently used throughout the store.  These are all SALE SIGN's !  Many of you purchase 'off the rack' typical ones, but you can see the difference.  Below is what NOT TO DO!   Please! Do not purchase these type of signs.  They cheapen what you are selling.
Develop your own look.

I loved this sign.  I'm definitely not a Gin drinker...but the sign, I love!
This sign is interchangeable depending on what the featured product is.  There is clear acrylic in front of the paper sign, which would be slipped in from the side. It tells the story about the product, and then shows you how to mix it.  As a customer you could just snap it with your cell phone, buy the bottle...and mix it up at home!
Perfection in signage!

In finishing up my top ten, I came across this image. Many of you will own these 'Two-Way's.  How easy would this be to have a banner made with product information on it? It could be about ANY product!
You could likely ask your vendor's to produce these for you.
WHAT WAS THE TAKEAWAY I WANTED YOU TO HAVE?
I really want you to feel inspired and to re-look at your signage opportunities.  I know that all of you are trying to stay alive right now, not only with your business, but literally as well.  I've talked with many of you in the past few weeks and I know it's a struggle.
