Inside this Issue!

The COVID-19 webpage resource has been updated to include local council information, information for keeping physically active, online safety resources, and supporting vulnerable groups. Prevention of Violence and Older People links have been added and include further information and resources.

We acknowledge there is a rapidly unfolding public health response to COVID-19 and would like to thank those services and staff who have been working tirelessly to respond, and to prepare for continued response to this virus. We are appreciative of those who are not only trying to support their own family, but who are also there for other individuals and families in our community.

Central Hume PCP has put together a COVID-19 webpage resource providing information on prevention, social connection & mental wellbeing. It has links to local information and information for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) groups and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It won’t be static as we will review and add as we come across resources.

We hope it will be a beneficial resource to the communities across Central Hume.

Heart Week has always been a great way for general practice and hospital staff to get involved in promoting heart health in their communities. Understanding the toll that COVID-19 is taking on our health system, we have decided to cancel this year’s Heart Week activities. The Heart Foundation thank you for your previous support of this event and hope to see you engaged next year.

The Heart Foundation's number one priority is to ensure all people who engage with Heart Foundation activities are safe and that the Heart Foundation are supporting general practice and hospital sectors as much as possible during these challenging times.

The Heart Foundation  look forward to supporting you and teams over this winter season, recognising that people living with heart disease are among the most vulnerable. The Heart Foundation will be working with primary care health professionals to ensure their at-risk patients receive the protection they need.

If you have any questions or if there is anything the Heart Foundation can support you with, please contact Kerry Hollier, Heart Health Senior Coordinator at kerry.hollier@heartfoundation.org.au.

The Victorian Government is developing a plan for Benalla West Estate and wants to hear from the Benalla community!

In late 2019 the Department of Health and Human Services asked the community what they like about Benalla West and what they want improved. They have taken on what the community have said and developed a set of key directions. These key directions will guide the future plan for the Estate. You can read more about these in the project update or by visiting the project website at https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/benalla-west-estate.

The Department of Health and Human Services are asking the Benalla community to help refine the key directions and confirm the issues by completing an online survey. If you need help completing the survey, call the Department of Health and Human Services project hotline on (03) 9021 0681 to arrange a time to speak to a project team member. By completing the survey, you’ll go into the draw to win one of three $50 gift cards.

Survey closes Monday 13 April 2020
