The Elusive Snow Leopard

We're excited to announce our first specialist wildlife trips focusing one of the world's most alluring and elusive mammals - the Snow Leopard. Mongolia is home to around 1000 of these enigmatic wild cats with their population mainly focused out west in the Altai Mountains. Goyo Travel have teamed up with park rangers in the remote border area west of Achit Nuur, where snow leopard numbers are increasing but where ongoing research and wildlife tourism is not as developed as in other areas - providing a unique opportunity to explore this undiscovered region.

Our inaugural
Snow Leopard Adventure departs in November 2021, with places strictly limited to 6 people as we road-test our new adventure. As the first snows descend on the Altai Mountains, prey descend below the snowline, giving an optimum opportunity to track not only snow leopards but other wildlife including Pallas Cat, Saiga Antelope, Ibex and Argali. We'll be spending time in 2 different locations, beginning at the research stations around Jargalant Mountain, before heading north and staying in a specially erected private ger in the Siilkhem Mnt "B" area, with a stopover with a renowned eagle hunter and his family near the Hovd River where you can ride and head out on hunting forays with your hosts and learn more about this unique tradition and culture. Downtime Diaries

Although Mongolia has been spared the ravages of the global pandemic due to their pre-emptive measures and border closures, it has meant that our 2020 season was over before it even began. With the absence of any inbound tourists yet this year, we checked-in recently with our core team of office staff, drivers and guides to see how they have been spending their time whilst isolating from the rest of the world in their 1,564,000km² of sparsely populated wilderness. Take a look at our Downtime Diaries to see what they have been up to in their enforced sabbatical. Although no-one is likely to able to experience Mongolia first-hand this year, we can bring a bit of Mongolia to you, through the eyes of the people who know it best. See what you have been missing, but also what awaits you when you're all allowed back in!
The Future is Here Now

Well, we can but wish it was - and it is if you scroll down to 2021 or 2022 on your calendar. You'll probably also find it empty, which is pretty dull - considering most of your best-laid 2020 plans will have also been a write-off - so now's the time to start filling your diary with things to look forward to.

Our 2021 & 2022 trips are now up on our website, with price freezes and discounts available on many group tours, plus reduced deposit payment down from 25% to 15%. So, when you are ready to start dipping your toe in the warm waters of travel again, just let us know and we can help you plan your next adventure!
