COVID-19 UPDATES
Real estate has been deemed as an essential service in the Stay-at-Home order from the state of North Carolina, and within Forsyth County. In order to protect our status as essential, WSRAR Leadership urges our members to consider public health and safety when conducting business, and to conduct as much business virtually as possible. When you have questions about certain business practices, please refer to the following guides:

NCR Best Practices
NAR Best Practices

Transactions in Guilford County:
Members working on transactions in Guilford County should take special note of changes to the Stay-At-Home order which did not previously include real estate as an essential service. While real estate is now considered essential, there are limitations to your activities as an agent within Guilford County.

Sniff out spam calls and texts

Spam and scam calls and text messages are increasing.  Did you know that you can use the Hoosfon feature in Real Safe Agent to sniff out scammers using text messages or spam calls.  Plug any phone number into Hoosfon and it will tell you the phone type such as Mobile, Pre-Paid, Fixed, VoIP, and Non-Fixed VoIP.  It will also tell you whether it’s a business or personal number, the owner’s name as well as other possible owners, and the city of the billing address.  If you get a call or text from a number you don’t recognize, just look it up in Hoosfon to get information you need to make better decisions…for example most spam and scam calls and text messages will come from a number that will come up as a Non-Fixed VoIP with no entry for Bus/Pers or Owner’s Name.  Real Safe Agent is available at no cost to all our members, including brokerage support, staff, and affiliates.  If you need an account set up for you, please email support@realsafeagent.com.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS UPDATE
Fair Housing Month...at Home

April is Fair Housing Month. Usually, we would celebrate this important legislation with luncheons, seminars, etc. Due to Coronavirus, this Fair Housing Month looks a little different. Fair Housing Month emphasizes education, reflection, and discussion, all meaningful efforts we can still undertake while staying at home and practicing social distancing.

This year, NAR has put together a great set of resources for you to educate yourself throughout the month. Read, watch, listen, think, discuss, and strengthen your fair housing knowledge and leadership.

Ways to Observe Fair Housing Month at Home:

  1. Host a Fair Housing Book Club: The NAR ebook library has added a number of fair housing titles. Read them on your own or host a book club on Zoom or another social meeting platform. A list of recommended titles and associated resources can be found here.

  2. Watch a Fair Housing movie or documentary: Check out a list of recommended fair housing videos here. Or watch The Banker, featuring Samuel L. Jackson.

  3. Listen to a Fair Housing Podcast

NAR will be sharing more Fair Housing resources later in the month, including online training, lists of Fair Housing nonprofit organizations, and special fair housing journalism.
