  • UPDATE: NIH Late Application Policy Due to Public Health Emergency for United States for 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). NIH understands that the emergency declaration related to novel coronavirus (COVID-19) will adversely affect many NIH applicants' ability to submit applications in a timely manner. Therefore, all grant applications submitted late for due dates between March 9 and May 1 will be accepted through May 1. This notice applies to all relevant funding opportunity announcements, including those that indicate no late applications will be accepted. Institutions need not request advance permission to submit late due to this declared emergency and a cover letter providing a justification is not required. Early stage investigators can submit requests for an extension of ESI status through eRA Commons. Investigators that have been affected by COVID-19 (e.g. university closure) may submit requests for an extension of ESI status through eRA Commons via the ESI Extension request button in the Education section of their Personal Profile.
  • NIH has re-issued the Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA) FOAThe NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The overarching goal of this R25 program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nation’s biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs. LOI is due June 14.
  • Urgent Competitive Revisions to NIGMS Grants to Address the Coronavirus Pandemic. NIGMS has released competitive revisions to NIGMS grants to address the Coronavirus Pandemic. NIGMS has three specific areas of interest. Apps will be accepted on a rolling basis until Feb 5, 2021, and will be evaluated quickly by an internal review panel convened by NIGMS staff. In addition to other review criteria, applications will be judged on the urgency, significance, and feasibility of the proposed research. Awards will be made for 1 year. Competitive revisions to R15, R21, and R00 grants may provide support above the established budget limits for the parent awards.
