Like nearly everyone around the globe, daily life at the Center for Science and Society has been uprooted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of us are looking for ways to help, options for teaching our children, and sometimes, an escape from it all. This week, we have updated our Science and Society Resources webpage with a wealth of new information.
We will be updating this list regularly. Feel free to contact us with additional resources. Please take care of yourselves.

Featured Events:
The Center for Science and Society has suspended all onsite programming through May, although a select number of events will be held remotely. Our online calendar of events now includes virtual events.

Improvisation is an inherent part of our being and behaving in the world. It is also a multidisciplinary field of inquiry, including not only music, dance, and artistic practices, but also architecture, design, philosophy, and identity. Free and open to the public. Explore the politics of science, consensus, and evidence-building. Speakers will discuss how public trust relating to climate change and pollution is constituted, eroded, and subverted by companies and environmental agencies. Free and open to the public. Link will be sent to registered attendees.

April 17 by 5PM. Full-time employees and students at Columbia University are encouraged to submit proposals for outreach and service projects that help boost public understanding of science issues, teach k-12 students, or work with communities to respond to science-affected issues. Virtual projects are welcome and can be adapted during this uncertain time.

April 20. Lecturers and tenured/tenure-track faculty at Columbia University are encouraged to submit proposals for co-taught courses in “science and society” for undergraduates and graduate students. Courses must be led by one instructor from a STEM field and one instructor from a non-STEM discipline. The Center will provide financial and administrative support.

The Science and Society Newsletter is sent biweekly and features updates from the Center and featured upcoming events and deadlines. While we can not guarantee that your event will be featured, we are always happy to include relevant upcoming events, grant deadlines, calls for papers, open positions, etc on our website.
