GETTING FEEDBACK

It is really helpful getting suggestions for blog posts as it lets me know what you need...so thank you!

As most of us are now isolating and keeping healthy, it's the perfect time to show you things that can be developed as you're working from home.

One of the questions I've been asked about is SIGNAGE. What do I need?  What should it look like?  Where do I need it?

It doesn't matter if you're a fashion retailer, a corporate office, an art gallery, a large department store....SIGNAGE MATTERS!

This will be part one on SIGNAGE, and will be an overview of what's necessary.  Part two will be more about the type of signage and holders...because I'm trying to make my posts shorter, and more 'to the point'.....so here goes.

CUSTOMERS need to be constantly reminded of where they are.

It's your chance to brand your store through signage.  Here is a list of places that you might use your company name or logo to help remind customers of your great store.

HOW DO YOU MEASURE ON THIS LIST?
  1. Exterior signage (a) store sign (b) window decals- often repeated across the entire window (c) poster in the window with your company name (d) window displays incorporating the company name.
  2. Store name incorporated into the flooring of the entry or even in a custom carpet at the entry
  3. Staff name tags - First name with Company name below
  4. Interior signage (a) on the walls (b) on policy and promotional signs (on shelf edgers, (c) on directional signs (e) and particularly important - on the wall behind the cash centre
  5.  On catalogues or flyers or bulletins that you send home and... on all social media
  6. Price tags
  7. Informational hang tags
  8. Hangers
  9. Business forms i.e. Order forms, Lay-a-way forms, Gift Certificates, Cash receipts...
  10. Bags and boxes
  11. Wrapping paper
  12. Private label items i.e. clothing, coffee cups, water bottles...
  13. Website, emails and the list goes on...
LET'S LOOK AT SOME OF THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR SIGNAGE
Signage on the store front is great for drive-by location finding.  The image on the right  perpendicular to the store front is best for walk-by traffic as they are approaching your store from either direction.  If you can...DO BOTH!
This store name above was poured into the concrete...and below is a great example of a carpet with Company Logo at Boutique Blanche in Tsawwassen. If you look closely you can see that the carpet is duplicated in Grey and Black on the inside.
Hang tags. I often advise removing the 'vendor' ones and
putting on your branded ones.

Above... Bags whether they be paper or plastic should have your name on it.  All the better if the bag is a 'keeper' like the ones from Dianes Lingerie!  Just saying!  Every time they look at it in their closet, they are reminded of where they purchased that lovely lingerie. And don't forget your branded tissue.  Is it in your corporate colour? If not, it should be!
OTHER PLACES...
It's very interesting to note that retailers who do this well...like Get Dressed in North Vancouver...take advantage of both their logo and their name by including it in all their 'take-away's' and also in store...such as the small 'logo in their dressing room,on the wall, and on the windows. Check out the images below!
BEHIND THE CASH DESK
I think that this is one of the most...if not THE MOST important areas for your corporate name. If a big corporation like ANTHROPOLOGIE is doing this...then you should be too!
Often at ANTHROPOLOGIE we'll see Large Flat Screens behind the cash centre showing current fashion...but in all cases their name will be 'front and centre'!

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR FEEDBACK!

Here are a couple things that people are saying.
They really made me smile, and feel connected!

In regards to the mannequins...
"Maybe I should just get one of those guys and stick him in the living room. I’d have someone to keep me company while
I’m staying home alone. "

and ...
"Honestly, I don’t know if I will ever feel
Safe again without gloves and a mask, and sanitizer.
Sending positive thoughts."
