COVID-19 Update #11
March 31, 2020

  • City Playgrounds
    • All City of Cape Canaveral playgrounds are closed until further notice in order to help avoid community spread of COVID-19 through the touching of common surfaces.
    • Because playgrounds are frequented by many individuals and it is difficult to sanitize equipment between each use, the City has made the decision to close them for the protection of everyone in our community.
    • If you are outside please remember to practice social distancing of at least 6 feet and avoid gatherings of 10 or more per CDC guidelines.
  • Please note that the Governor’s recent Executive Order #20-87 temporarily suspends all vacation rentals in the State of Florida. Enforcement of the order has been placed with the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation (DBPR). If you are aware of a vacation rental in the City that is operating in violation of this order, please contact DBPR at www.myfloridalicense.com/DBPR/eo-complaints/
  • Florida Governor signs Executive Order No. 20-88: stay-at-home order for southern part of the state.
  • Emergency Supplemental Order #2: Temporary Signs: Mayor Hoog signed Emergency Supplemental Order #2 in response to the current COVID-19 emergency. The Order recognizes that social distancing measures implemented to combat the virus, have an effect of restricting the operations of various businesses in the City. The City is committed to supporting restaurateurs, retailers and their employees during these difficult times. In order to promote the sale of available and necessary goods and services to the public, the Order temporarily authorizes one feather flag and one snipe sign for businesses in the Commercial Districts. Please refer to the full Executive Order for additional provisions and restrictions.
  • Brevard County EOC is at Level 1 Activation for COVID-19.

  • Community Unites! Thanks to the generosity of Mosh Gal and Beachwave Beachwear, the City of Cape Canaveral and volunteers distributed 900 Stay-Well Care Bags — with hand sanitizer, COVID-19 info sheets, city swag and more — at Cape Canaveral City Hall yesterday! Each bag and many of the items in them were graciously donated by the BeachWave Family to help the community stay healthy and happy during these times. This was in addition to a donation of hand sanitizer and face masks made to Cape Canaveral's first responders totaling over 2000 hand sanitizers for the community! #thankyou!

This situation continues to rapidly evolve on a daily basis and we will continue to update citizens as we gather more information. We are encouraging our citizens to remain calm and practice social distancing (watch this video to learn more).
