Good Afternoon Boston,

Massachusetts hit a dark milestone today, cresting more than 5,000 confirmed coronavirus cases. There are now 5,752 reported cases, with 56 deaths attributed to COVID-19. You can see the trendlines here.

Gov. Charlie Baker warned he’s expecting a surge in cases as early as April 7. To prepare for that increase, the state should receive 1,000 ventilators from the federal government soon. Health officials are also moving nursing home residents to create dedicated nursing facilities for COVID-19 patients who are recovered enough to leave the hospital.

P.S. Have you heard the “Bohemian Rhapsody” parody composed by Cambridge comedian Dana Jay Bein? Sample lyrics: “Is this a sore throat? / Is this just allergies? / Caught in a lockdown / No escape from reality.” Give “Coronavirus Rhapsody” a listen.
