Nourish: Eating a balanced diet
Our Small Changes Ambassador Danijela Unkovich is an expert on nutrition. In this video she talks us through tips to eating a balanced diet by eating a wide variety of foods. She tells us about the four main food groups, fruit and vegetables, breads and cereals, milk or milk products, and meat and meat alternatives.

To find out more about eating a balanced diet check out Harold's Fact Sheet 'What is a balanced diet?' and quiz here.
APPRECIATE: Go for a walk around your neighbourhood
How many native plants do you notice?  Can you spot a pohutakawa, kowhai, tōtara or harakeke? Can you spot any native birds?

Perhaps where you live there might be teddy bears peeking out of the windows at the moment. If there are you might like to turn your walk into a 'bear hunt'. Check out our activity sheet which you can use to turn your bear hunt into a fun game here.
APPRECIATE: Positive thinking
Sometimes our brains can default to negative thinking, which can make it hard to relax and get a good night sleep. Watch this video and try this clever trick to train our brain into thinking more positively.

Once you have watched the video, give the activities below a try:
  • Together as a family, download Harold's Learning Experience and work through the questions here.
